I replaced the ST205/75/R14 RidgeWay Pro Load Range C with 205/75/R14 Goodride Trailer ST Load Range C. Our tires were the factory tires and we have our TT since October 2015.

So no increase in load capacity. Are you expecting some better performance? If so why?

I am not expecting better performance. I had to replace one tire because of separation problems.

You were lucky to catch it before it came apart and did damage. Tire should be covered by warranty if from a regular tire company. You should also file complaint with NHTSA. You will need DOT serial for that.

From wear pattern it looks like you are running low on inflation by maybe 10 psi for the load you have. What is your scale weight?

I haven't weighed it yet. I agree I was lucky. Those tires were the ones from the factory. we are dealing with Tire Shield to try and get reimbursed for that tire. Now you understand why I had to replace the tires. All tires looked similar wear. I will have to get to some scales and weigh in. I will also watch my inflation.

For inflation I suggest the inflation molded on the tire sidewalls. LR-C is probably 50 psi.
This is also probably the inflation on the tire Placard on driver side of RV toward the front.

RE weight You can use standard CAT truck scale and assume a nominal side to side unbalance of 6% so figure each axle weight is split 47/53%. The 53% number should be no greater than 85% of the tire max load as molded on tire.
If you can't get individual axle loads I suggest you also estimate a 47/53 axle to axle split to be conservative
So total of 2 axles is 10,000 One axle may have 5300# and one side may have 53% of 5,200# or 2,809#. This would mean the tires better be rated for at least 3,305# or you need to put RV on diet.

With the numbers you then know how important it is to learn actual individual tire loading.
I have a number of posts on my blog on weight and inflation. Just be sure to follow the advice for trailers not for Motorhomes which is different.

Don't forget about the NHTSA complaints. That is the only way we can ever push RV companies to select better tires.

What is your recommendation for my truck. I have 235/75/17 Hanlook's. I have been looking at Michelin Defender LTX. Any opinions?

I try and stay away from specific brand suggestions other than select a brand with lots of dealers and outlets nationwide and a brand that puts the tire company name on the tire sidewall.

Best bet for tow vehicle is to confirm the load when hooked up and fully loaded and not exceed any vehicle rating. You have a size, Load Range and pressure recommendation of driver door jam.

Any tire retailer that stock's your truck's tire size will have a listing of acceptable replacements including brand names and sizes. Your best answer will come from one of them.

Just wanted to add that TireShield claim was approved and they are cutting a check for the damaged tire

I wonder what the basis was for their claim or sales pitch. I recently ran into a newspaper advertising supplement (not labeled as such but confirmed by paper's editor that what it was), that presented a claim that inflating a tire gave better resistance to Road Hazard on NHTSA test.
I asked for info on where the info came from. Eventually got answer from the PR company that wrote the supplement and they admitted there was no such data.

IMO I am wondering of someone in the nitrogen inflation business jsut decided that no one would ever check and having a claim in a newspaper could be used to sell more N2 tire inflation.
