We had the same symptoms and finally replaced the motor with one from a GM electric window application. $39 and it works better than the OEM one ever did.

We have a 2015 Forest River 40CCK destination trailer and our Dometic 9100 Power Awning wont open. Can't locate the fuse any ideas?

Awning problem resolved

Just as a follow up: had power all the way to the motor. New motor was installed and problem solved.
Thanks!

I'm sure GM has a lot of different size and models of window motors. Which one did you use, or do you have the part number?

Take the motor with you to the parts store and they will find one that matches. Just make sure the bolt pattern is the same.

It is posted in another awning thread. If I have time I'll find it for you.

Are you sure it was a motor that could be used for an awning or was it a motor for the electric steps?

See this thread for discussion on the car window motor replacement-
Cheap LCI awning motor replacement

Also you can go to Ebay and search Dorman 742-141
and the top hit is one for $31 incl shipping!
(I've printed this info and placed in my folder of important papers in my trailer!)

Read the thread carefully- you need to finish drilling a hole in order to put a punch
or small screwdriver in there to hold the spring while changing the motor.
It's all in the thread just proceed with caution!

Also this thread- covers how you might recover from an awning motor failure
while it's out and you need to close it to go home/to the dealer-
What to do when awning motor fails?

We'd love to hear a follow up someday.
Good luck!

My Dorman motor is still working great. It is noticeable smoother than the OEM motor, and faster to boot. Tip, temporarily connect the wires to the new motor and make sure you have the polarity correct. I have to push the "awning in" button to get the awning to extend. Next chance I get I will reverse the wires to correct this.

Thank you very much for that info. I had read that thread before but couldn't find it via the Mickey Mouse search function on this board. I now have the motor order sitting in my Amazon shopping list for when I need it.
