Bent Stabilizers - Help
We just bought a new 2016 Wildwood X Lite 282qbxl. We have taken it out twice and used it a number of times at home.
I just noticed that we have bent both the front and rear stabilizer arms. I am not happy about this, but I probably did it to myself.
What are my options on fixing this?
Replacement parts ? Can you provide me a link?
I am not sure what to do that won't cost me an arm and a leg

No idea about parts, but can we talk about how you vent them in the first place?

I am not sure how I bent them in the first place, probably by using them to level my TT.

That's what I worried you were doing. You need to be leveling by raising the camper by putting boards or something under the tires and raising the low side of the camper. Then front to back leveling happens with the tongue jack (for travel trailers) or landing gear (for fifth wheels).

Looking on line at the same type of TT it looks like scissor type
stabilizer arms (what you called them).
I call them stabilizers jacks and more than likely they are bolted
to the frame
You can find stabilizer's at most any RV Stores or Repair place
like Camping World. Also you can buy them on line if you know
how far they extend down and the weight the stabilizer can
handle.
You can also call the manufacturer's parts line and ask for
a replacement of such, make sure you have the type of
TT, the VIN number because the parts person will ask
you for such to match up your TT with the right part.
BTW don't feel bad, there are a ton of people that have
done what you have. They won't admit it but if you look
back thought the old posts you see more than a few
people that have bent theirs.....

I'm sure if you put a call into selling dealer or manufacturer you can replace them. Happens a lot I'm sure... Honest Mistake you won't do again...

Hopefully someone else can lean from your mistake. As has been mentioned if seriously bent you will be better off replacing them. If bolted on a fairly easy swap. If welded you will need to cut the welds and weld new ones back if that if beyond your skills the RV dealer, trailer repair or a good welding shop can put new ones back. But hopefully bolted and it will be mostly the cost of new stabilizers. Of course it will be more costly if they are electric.
My other suggestion when you replace the front, hook the trailer to the tow vehicle the front tongue jack rarely fails but they have been know to.
Good Luck !!!!

This may be a blessing it happened to the Stabilizers and Not the FRAME! When you replace the Stabilizers do NOT use HD jacks and try the same thing or your Frame will suffer Next! Youroo!!

costly mistake unfortunately. Stabilizers (they are not levelers) go down last. Level side to side with blocks under tires. Level front to rear with front tongue jack after unhooking from truck. When all leveled, then lower the stabilizers. Trying to support weight of camper on them will damage them for sure.

Check for a RV salvage yard sometimes can pick up reasonable, if not Amazon or etrailer.com sell them fairly cheap. I have a red clothes pin I put on visor to remind me "jacks up ?"

Won't re-address what the stabilizer police have already said... nor instructions on how to use these things but will share my experiences. New trailer, a couple weeks after delivery.. had it set up LEVEL in the yard (RV apd actually). and one of mine REFUSED to go up. Got that rascal warrantied! but component manufacturer sent direct to me so i could leave on a trip about 3 days later. (Lippert i think?) Kept old one for parts as they didn't want it back. Fast forward about 18 months, and had the side-arms on one end (front this time?) go south. to the parts bin and installed new arms. 2nd success! but that parts bin is gone now due to some clean-out/thinning the herd. THEN about 8 weeks ago, was in a VERY windy campground.. and swear i felt the trailer shift. and a re-inspection the next morning made me think she did lift a bit and overload one side. this time the channel bent. Pressed for time and lucky enough to be near Elkhart IN/White Pigeon MI area, i was able to snag a surplus one (minus motor) for $75. Dealer was in the 475 neighborhood if i recall. Quick swap out of the bolts. and motor. and i was in business again. BUT did take the old one to a local fab/welding shop. He was able to get it straightened and reinforced it (inside/outside) and that channel won't be the 'weak link' any longer!!! Cost was $60. So.. now i'm carrying a spare one for parts or R&R as I avoid the snow this winter. (currently in GA).
So. the moral of the story is they ARE repairable. Lippert carries SOME of the parts (mainly the arms, not the leg channels) and will happily sell you them for a liberal application of dollars! OR maybe you can find (and ship?) a surplus one before you have to spend the big bucks for a complete NEW unit! (btw, grafting the replacement button can be a challenge too routing wires to switches and all if doing complete unit with motor). Good luck!

How far should the jacks retract? I have a Forester 2861DS and when hand cranked all the way up they only leave 6.5-7 inches of ground clearance. Could they be bent? I cannot hand crank them so the scissors are completely in which would probably give another inch of clearance. Both sides are the same

"Stabilizers" are just that. Stabilizers are usually light duty and NOT meant to be used to LEVEL an RV. You might want to replace the stabilizers with SCISSOR JACKS which should be strong enough to level. Just make sure to attach scissor jacks to the frame (preferably a beefy part of the frame).

Just curious to know how much ground clearance anyone has as my scissor jacks are the lowest point at only 6.5 to 7 inches fully (at least as far as I can hand crank them ) retracted. Thanks

This issue is not new for most anyone who uses a camper, the jacks you have on your coach are just the most common simple screw down type jack, if they are just bent to the point they work but do not close properly you could unbolt them and try and straighten them out, or if they are to bent for this , then just go to any dealer or online and order new one.
You need to understand these are "just to slow down" movement in the coach once level, they are not built or intended to lift the coach in anyway. They all have a weight limit from 2500 lbs to 6000 lbs, and putting bigger ones on your coach dose not change the manner on how they are intended to be used.
Hope this helps and Happy camping

They are definitely repairable. I think that OldCoot has reenforced his pair to the point that he can almost lift his fifth wheel if he wants.
What you also found is also pretty true- short of going to factory surplus places, Lippert doesn't sell parts. They only offer whole units at the tune of $500 like you found.
