Buying a new 26TBSS, what is a decent price

We have a good FR dealer about 30 minutes from our house and really like the 26TBSS. They have it marked down to $17,500 for the Kansas City RV show. I've seen these listed elsewhere online for $14,500-18,000 on sale depending on features.

This one seemed to have everything. Electric jacks, electric awning, TV, 6 gal DSI water heater, 2 door fridge. Cable and OTA jacks, dual LP tanks with cover.

Should I be able to negotiate them lower? Is there anybody that can tell me what the wholesale or dealer price is so I have some idea where to start?

Thanks!

there are no true "wholesale" dealers in the RV business. it's a marketing gimmick.
companies like RVWholesalers and RVDirect, are regular RV dealerships that deal in volume, therefore get better prices from the manufacturer.

most of us get prices for what we want, from companies like these, and take those prices to the local dealers and negotiate.

but, i had no luck with 3 local Rockwood dealers doing this, but i live on the West Coast and those dealers dared me to go to the Midwest if i wanted those kind of prices. otherwise, they were happy to sell me the same thing, for thousands more.
i drove to the Midwest and back and still saved nearly $4k on a $22kMSRP HTT.

luckily, you live in the Midwest and dealers there are more willing to come close to RVW or RVD's prices.

I would and always negotiate. ours was at the lowest price they would sell it for... got them down even more. I find the worst they can say is no.

So what have others paid for a fully loaded 26TBSS?

Here is the "work sheet" for our model that we are looking at. After tax, $500 hitch, and doc fees, it is about $19,000.

I have an identical quote from one of the "wholesale" dealerships from Kentucky and it is about $17,000. Will I have any luck using that as leverage in negotiations with the local dealership? I really don't mind driving 600 miles to get it. That will give me time to tow it without my family with me.

hard to say, some have luck and some don't.
i had no luck with West Coast dealers and ended up driving 4000 miles round trip. so, for me, 650 miles would definitely been worth it.

We used our quote from RV Wholesalers to compare to local dealers within 50-125 miles of us. We wound up with four quotes, all over the spectrum. A dealer 50 miles away was able to beat their price by a few hundred $$. We're only 250 miles from the factory so our unit was made on a Thursday, cleared quality inspection on Friday morning, and we were driving it off the lot on Saturday at noon.

Just to note, that 2012 may be almost 2 years old as they'll be producing 2014 models in March. It's depreciated almost two years as soon as you tow it off the lot.

Our 2013 is loaded nicely, except we don't have power jacks and stabilizers. Our dealer threw in a Reese WDH, battery, full 30 lb propane tanks, water pressure regulator, de-winterizing, and a few other small things for 19,245.

we just got a 2013 261BHXL xlite wildwood. sticker was 22950.00 it has all the upgrades elec awning, elec. jacks, elec tong. carry rack on back. we paid 13500.00 which included a blu ox hitch. I got it a lazydays in Tampa, Fl. They were awesome to work with. We had looked at a hideout 26bh 2012 at camping world but they were 4000.00 more and didn't act like they wanted our business. At lazy days they went above and beyond on everthing i had asked just for a price on a brake control and some how they messed up and put it in with out me ordering it. I didnt really want it were they put it but was ok with it. after they found out i had not ordered it they had already put it in they gave it to me for free. I did offer to pay for it but they would not let me. they said they rather me to become a life long customer and come back to buy another rv in the future than to charge us for there mistake. We are going on our first real trip in the trailer in two weeks cant wait.

Bought mine in January of this year in PA. It is a 2013 with power everything. Paid $18,100 total.(tax, title, tags, etc.) Didn't include the hitch since I already had that.
