Cheap tires on my 2015 29UD3 wildwood
I have 4 bad tires on my brand new wildwood travel trailer. Anyone know if this classifies as a warranty item? less than 2k miles traveled on a unit that is 6 months old.

When you get new ones make sure to have them balanced. When I told this to the last dealer I bought from he said "You don't need to balance trailer tires. You won't feel anything in your truck!" I had a hard time keeping my mouth shut. I told him to balance them anyway. Have no abnormal wear problems.

Inferior tires
The bias ply tires that come from the factory on the Wildwood are crap and will not last more than a few thousand miles, if that. They dealer will tell you that the trailer is overloaded or the tires underinflated and disavow knowledge that the tires are crap. I put some Maxxi radials on my Wildwood and no problems with the tires at all since then. In order to keep the price down the factory puts crap tires with nitrogen fill to make you feel good. Anyone buying a new Wildwood who is going to put some mileage on the trailers should insist on a tire upgrade at the time of purchase.

Also trailer axle alignment seems to be a problem on some units. Find an old sports car racer with two jack stands, a ball of twine, a ruler, and a 2' level. That's all that's needed to check alignment. I did alignment at the track for over thirty years and once a year would have it rechecked on a modern 4 wheel alignment machine. Rarely had to change anything. If that reveals a problem, then get professional help. Good luck.

We had four bad tires on our 5th wheel. Two had cracks and the other two had stretch marks. Tires were about 11 months old. Contacted Rockwood and they OK'd replacement of tires at an authorized dealer. Could not drive to authorized dealer and they said they pay authorized dealer $75 per tire and would give me that much for each tire. We accepted the $300 from Rockwood, paid an extra $100 to get upgraded tires. Went from 6 to 10 ply tires and the tires were balanced. Your tires should be covered on your rig warranty.

PSI same as at PDI does not always mean it's correct. My trailer had 40 lbs and they were ready to send me on my way and I told them to air it up to the correct 50lb PSI first. Sounds like your pressure is low for tires to wear like yours did.

I bought a one year old Wanderer trailer in 2002 which had similar wear on the bias ply tires. Thinking the wear was due to the previous owner under inflating them I replaced them with the same tires. 5000 miles later, same thing, worn out on the edges, both inner and outer. This set was always run at the maximum 50 psi. I complained to the manufacturer (Carlisle) who replaced the tires with new radials. This set was much better but still wore strangely with small rubber bits, like worms, on the tread. I sold the trailer before determining what the problem was but I believe the wear was due to a defect in the trailer axles or suspension. That trailer also broke two leaf springs. So my point is that I would not be sure the tires were at fault. If it's the trailer you will never keep a set of tires on it for long.

How come, as soon as someone says that their tires are wearing on inside and outside, its assumed that it is OPs fault for under inflation. My original tires wore like that, and I know for a fact that they were not low on pressure. Checked before every trip. Never had to add air except after winter storage.
How come it is never assumed that the factory put such a low grade tire and the weight class was so close to the dry weight listed, that the tire cupped due to the weight of the loaded trailer.
Just question, and for what its worth, I have since went with ten ply radial and the wear is now gone.

balancing tires
Just bought 4 new tires for my tt & noticed there was no weights at all on the 4 rims so I ask them if they were balance & they didn't, but they could balance them but the weights would not stay on because they don't stay on trailer rims, I guess they were maybe right because when I got home one weight had already fall off !

I have to call BS on this.A steel trailer wheel is just like a steel automotive wheel and would use either clamp on or stick on wieghts. Aluminum wheels are just like aluminum automotive wheels and would use stick on wieghts,of course if the wheel isnt cleaned first, the stick ons wont stick!

Google "DynaBeads. Read up. They work . Best tire balancing that I know of. I use them in both the TT and truck. I have 265 75 17 " tires on my truck and the beads do an excellent job. Easy to use. Highly recommend. No I don't have an affiliation with any supplier or company making these beads.
