I've got all the tables/charts for all of the ST sizes. The "food for thought" was just a reminder to check your OE tire load capacities before replacing. There are three distinct load capacities for the ST235/80R16E tires, 3420#, 3500# and 3520#, all at 80 PSI. The 3420# tires do not satisfy the minimum load capacity fitment on 7000# GAWR axles. Maxxis & the Goodyear Marathons are the 3420# ST tires.

The DW and I drove from Amana Iowa to Goshen and back in just the truck a few weeks ago, ~12 hrs of driving. I couldn't believe the amount of delivery drivers passing me at above 70 and sometimes above 75 miles per hour pulling all kinds of TT and 5th wheels. Just shook my head and thought no wonder my China bombs blew within a few thousand miles, they were most likely abused from Goshen to California, never had a chance...

Got me thinking, going on a few thousand mile trip in a couple months. Are Westlake Tires the same? They are made in China.

Tandem axles on the trailer. Close together and twists. TV tires not close together. No BS here.

As to twisting the tires/treads while turning trailer. I can see tires being damaged on the insides whether hot or cold.

I don't think the point is that every tire from China is bad. The ones I had definitely had a problem as have A LOT of other people. So I decided to go overboard with the tire rating rather than have a long term battle with tire issues.
For me it's really about the math.
4 new upgraded tires at $200 each vs 1 new 2017 37 ft fifth wheel, 1 new 2017 Ram truck and 1 family of 5. Hmmm tough choice right?

Have people had issues with Westlake? I have had some sway issues so wondering if the tire part may fix it. The tires on my 372LOK are load E.

I haven't heard much about Westlake, but a load E tire is a 10 ply 80 psi tire(like my castle rocks). The Sailun's are a load G 14 ply 110 psi tire. It was all rubber and tread to me until I actually picked the tires up and pressed on the sidewalls at the tire shop. Night and day difference. Might be worth checking out the differences nextime you are near or in a good tire shop.

I just replace mine with the endurance so i,m happy now i have set of westlake for spares on the dump trailer and farm wagons
here is a artitcal on the tires to avoid
https://www.carsdirect.com/car-repai...anies-to-avoid
Brands of Tires to Avoid at All Costs
In recent years, many Chinese tire manufacturers have come under attack for making substandard and unsafe tires available for sale in the United States. Furthermore, some Chinese manufacturers have been the subject of forced recalls by many state Attorney Generals and the Federal Trade Commission. While there are many variations of Chinese import tires that have come under attack, companies that have been the subject of forced government recalls include:
Westlake Tires
AKS Tires
Telluride tires
Compass Tires
All of these brands of cheap tires are made by the China-based Hangzhou Zhongce Rubber Company; furthermore, it is alleged that these tires lack even the most basic of safety features such as gum strips which are a rubber feature that helps prevent steel belts inside the tire from separating or damaging the rubber.

Are your rims rated for 110 lbs?

Just curious, with all of the people having issues, and fortunately I haven't been one of them, and with those that are so willing to pay their hard earned money to upgrade the tires, even when the tires are brand new, why doesn't Forest River put good stuff on the RVs for a cost? What I mean is, lets say you take a random trailer that will sell for $25k. The buyer then pays $600 (4 X $150) for "good" tires. I bet you anything on this planet, those buyers would gladly pay $26k for that trailer, to have the upgraded tires on it when it leaves the assembly line. Forest River is going to buy in bulk so those $600 for tires will cost them $450 (or less), and they are going to sell the trailer (in my example) for an extra $1000. They would make an extra $550 on each trailer... Maybe I'm just looking at things far too simplistically? Or maybe make that an option. When you order a truck from Ford (I assume any other manufacturer as well) you can choose the rims and tires that come on it. Maybe FR could make that an option. I know you can choose to upgrade the rims on the trailer, we did, but that says nothing about the tires. We always see the "Arctic Package" and the "Sapphire Package", etc. Maybe this is the "Tread Package". Just some thoughts. Sounds to me like there is a very high percentage of buyers that would gladly pay extra, in some cases a lot extra, to have that "Tread Package"

Because that would make too much sense! Instead some corporate ***** bag is making the decision to put their customers at risk.

Also, FYI Discount tire matches some online retailers as long as you include shipping in the price match. I printed off the Simpletire quote I saw last night and they matched it. Discount's usual Maxxis is $180 per tire, they matched the Simpletire and brought it down to $155. All things considered, that made the total savings $260 ($25x4+$100+$60). The tires still weren't cheap, when mount/balance/disposal ($18.50 ea.) and Texas sales tax (8.25%) was added, I drove out at $585 total (after rebates).
In case you are more interested in the FY Endurance, the same process and match with GY Endurance would have been $450 net after rebates.
This is a Labor Day sale so you have to do it this weekend to get the rebates. I'm attaching the Simpletire Maxxis quote from last night and you can print and take it in.

Sailun vs. Maxxis vs. Endurance
For those that may be considering replacing their Load Range E tires to either Maxxis or Sailun or Goodyear Endurance.
I put together this table from the manufacturer sites. I confirmed all of the tires will fit my wheels. Basically, I was then interested to compare many specs but primarily:
- How much does each tire weigh compared to the other, who has more rubber?
- How does tread depth compare?
- How does number of Ply's compare?
- How does the Speed rating compare?
- Most important, any difference in Load Carry?
A couple of notes about the table. The Sailun can be run at either 80psi or 110psi (confirmed with Sailun). This makes them compatible with wheels that may not support 110psi. So in the table, I listed Sailun's S637 twice, run at 110 and run at 80. The table is attached as a PDF. Hope this helps someone.

That is interesting, I went with the maxxis. Had I had this info at the time, I may have gone with the 14 ply Sailun's.

China bomb fail #1
Crap, mine are Westlake
They are St175/80R13. Anyone know of any good choices in this size? Maxxis I know does it, anyone else? I've been planning on doing it, now I want to do it immediately!
Bonus points if you know a good dealer in southern Ontario...
