Dumb question....
So this is most likley a dumb question but....We will be traveling for 2 months this summer and there will be stretches where we will be dry camping 4-5 days at a time so the question is can I plug my camper into my truck and run it for say 15-20 minutes in the morning so we can try and watch some local news to get the weather? If so what problems may it cause? Thanks in advance.

No dumb questions just learning... I am going to say no for various reasons. Unless you have an inverter your outlets won't be powered from the TV. Also the TV is not a good way to charge the batteries unless traveling/towing distances to give the trickle charger time to charge. Generally the outlets are only powered by shore power. I say this assuming I read the post right and this is a TT not a MH. Best of luck!

I think you should double-up on the battery and buy a cheap inverter.

Assuming you are running the TV on an inverter the truck should provide enough to maintain the current charge in the batteries but will not charge the batteries unless it is running a long time.

Basically just running the truck long enough to catch the local weather asides from that we dont really watch alot of TV, Thought about a generater but wouldnt run it at 6am as there would be other campers sleeping and the truck is not that loud although that is something to consider as well.

Just a thought but if you are only trying to get weather information, and assuming you have a signal, maybe a smart phone or tablet? Jerry

Its funny you say that...Here in my part of VT cell phones are somewhat useless believe it or not there are many parts of VT that have no cell service the large companies claim coverage but its not there you can drive 40 minutes and not have any service then get it for 5 min and bang its gone again....That being said we have the old old OLD flip phone...Which I'm considering getting rid of and going smart phone.

If you are just looking for weather forecast have you considered just buying a NOAA Weather radio. I have kne we take when we go out. Never been anywhere i could not get a signal although you may not get a strong one. If you aren't sure about coverage where you are heading check out weather.gov

Just a suggestion, but I bought one of those all in one car jump starters, Walmart had one for about 100 bucks that had an inverter built into it that I believe was 300 watts. It was enough to run my tv for an hour or 2. Just plug the tv straight into the outlet on the battery pack...... I just plug it into an AC outlet in the truck to charge it back up as I drive. It is also nice to have, air compressor, light, jump starter, exc. it is not a particularly light beast but since I am on a CPAP, it allows me to go tent camping with my son and still breathe 😜

If you have the room/weight and are going to be doing a lot of dry camping, have you considered putting in 6 volt batteries, possibly even 4. Most people who do a lot of dry camping do that and you could buy a small inverter for the television.
Being in VT, I hear you about the cell service!
