External Stabilizer Switches

We picked up our brand new 2015 Wildwood 241QBXL in May and both the outside stabilizer jack switches failed on our second outing in early June. One of them failed to raise or lower the stabilizer and the other failed to lower. Fortunately the unit is equipped with a remote control so we've been camping all summer with no real problem. The back switch will occasionally work in retraction, but gets stuck in that mode, the front switch will occasionally extend.

I plan to have them replaced under warranty at the end of the season, but I would prefer not to have the same junk installed.

Has anyone found a reliable extend/retract replacement switch designed to be mounted outside in the elements?

Thanks,
Jamnut

Never had trouble with mine, but shortly after getting the trailer, I bought little compartments to get them out of the weather/elements. Will post pictures tomorrow, for some reason or other the site will not upload pictures tonight.

You can also buy waterproof switches. You need to look for; Waterproof Double pole, double throw 3 Position Momentary On-Off-Momentary On Rocker Switch.

That will get you what you need.

I like the idea of the cover over them also.

Thanks Coot. Mine have been out in the weather for five years and I never thought of covering them. I do cover my electric tongue jack though. I am going to order a couple of those.

x2 Out switches failed within three days of each other during our 16 day Boston/Bar Harbor/Mt Washington trip...

Didn't bother with warranty... replaced them for $7.25 each from local marine supply store.

Really like the doors Coot...

That's for the idea and the heads up on the doors. Something else to add to my "honeydo" list.

Thanks to Jamnut and OldCoot for the great information on the external electric stabilizer switches. I tried the remote suggestion and Jamnut was right...they worked. I also went online to the Lippert Components website and printed the manuals for the Remote, the Front Electric Jack and the Electric Awning.

Jamnut, your new unit is the same model as my new unit. Read all my problems so you are aware.
