First time modifications

Being new to a TT my question is, what are the FIRST few mods that I should be thinking about doing? Also coming from tents paper and plastic utensils are the norm what about with the TT? Very excited I have the credit card in hand and ready to go

Oh also are any of the clubs like Good Sam worth joining?

LED light bulbs
two batteries (if you don't have them)
Flag holder (for cheap us flag)
velcro straps for hoses and wires
12V dc jacks around the trailer for charging and small things away from shore power
cheap harbor freight solar panel (mine is 1'x 2' 1 amp ish or something like that)for charging batteries while stored.
one of those battery operated motion sensitive led lights for next to the door and lights for the compartments

get the burger paper sheets and burger baskets so much better than paper plates.

also if you have kids or parties buy fitted waterproof sheets and fitted sheets for the beds then use cheap sleeping bags (it is camping). this way if there is a spill (or other) just strip the fitted sheet and sleeping bag take to the laundromat and away you go. I don't do that for my queen but I do it for all the other beds in our trailer.

those are the ones that were easy and cheap. And you wouldn't believe how nice they are.

I am sure other people have other ideas.

Good Sams is part of CW same CEO , good to join for discounts and towing, The first thing to do is make it safe, get some TST tire monitoring system for your tires it will let you know tire pressure and temp. The second thing is if you have a WFCO converter throw it away and get a progressive 4600 direct replacement but has a 4 stage charger not 3 like a wfco, they are cheap junk. Also check your tires date and brand and get new GY Marathons or Maxxis. Be safe. That just cost you about $1200.00 but you will thank me oneday...and.. most of all.

Hi there VT Skier! So glad you found this forum!

Here's a couple of add-on to what's been said so far:

1) water regulator - we chose the 'Watts' brand
2) external water filter
3) water bandit or water thief

There are soooo many other nicety things I could add, but these are three easy things to get that I feel are more important

Would not waste the time or money on changing the converter when it is working just fine and you get absolutely no benefit from it. Had the WFCO converters the last 8 years in 4 different trailers and absolutely no problems with batteries, etc.

I forgot this best thing I ever installed on a trailer. Each big mark is one 2x10 or an orange brick. so much easier when leveling side to side most times I can level it by just parking forward or backward a foot or two

Does it work like a mirror to help hitching the trailer? Just a guess...

I suspect that it's a type of sight glass so the one can see from which bottle the regulator is drawing.

Actually think it's a great idea as I find myself taking the bottle cover off to accomplish the same thing. Especially when I know one bottle is getting low and I'm expecting the regulator to flip to the full bottle.

"O" contrar OC a progressive is a very good 4 stage charger that will allow you to choose your charge rate. Great converter charger for people who do not stay tethered to a power pole while camping all the time. A progressive with the wizard allows you to control your charge, perfect for someone who likes to boondock and has to charge there batteries by a generator, they can put it in bulk charge anytime they want 14.4 volts to get the max charge rate of 90% of any size they pick such as 45 amp to 100 amps. You can not do that with a WFCO. Also a WFCO will not do desalinization of your plates every 21 hrs,. I don't think FR would be putting them in if they didn't see the benefits over WFCO.

Had camping trailers since 1976 and never had a problem with whatever converter was installed and no battery problems. I stand by my statement, don't waste the time and money replacing a perfectly good converter, now, if it goes bad, replace it with whatever you choose.

BTW, it's "au contraire".

Why would you spend money replacing a perfectly good, functioning converter?

Not nessecarily mods but stuff to do.
Get some treated 1X10 and 2X10 cut to varying lengths to use to level your trailer or buy plastic block leveling kits (wood is cheaper).

Buy or make some wheel chocks.

I would look into a whole trailer surge/power protection. Search around the site and you will find a bunch of posts on this.

Mods I have on my list for this winter are 5X5 fence post storage for my sewer hose, black and grey tank turbo flush (or similar) and extending the various water drains under the trailer to frame mounted valves.

Read post 14 again, I explained it to you already. Please do not try an bate me into a silly argument. You have your opinion and I have mine. What I said in #14 makes perfect sense to me and is my opinion that's all, disagree if you want but don't say it's wrong facts are fact period.......
