Folding Grab handle install

I have a Wildwood LA 27BHSS, I want to install a folding grab handle by the entry door. I was just wondering if anyone has done this. I have read threads from people with other manufacturers who stated there was no stud next to the door and the handle pulled out. From the looks of the frame picture on the sticker on the trailer, it's hard to tell if the stud is part of the door or along side the door where the handle would attach. The small handle is next to the door, but I'm not sure if there is a backer there or the stud. Thanks in advance for the help.

Hi Pete, I see this is your first post, so welcome! I really don't know, but dealers install them all the time; I'd ask your dealer in your case... the LA means aluminum frame if I remember correctly, which could maybe complicate things a bit.

had the dealership do mine, didnt want to take the chance of putting extra holes in the skin because i need directions to use a hammer. they didnt even charge me because i have them winterize and inspect roof every year, and i bought the handle off them. i also had the same thing happen when i bought two max-air vent covers from them at the end of 06 season. i have a great dealership.

I installed one on our camper two years ago and no problems. I just followed the directions and there seemed to be a stud where you would expect.

Good luck

We own a Wildwood LE 39BHSS, which we love, and we would like to install one of these folding door handles, too. I was thinking it would be a good idea to call the manufacturer and ask them about the "blocking" around the door where you plan to install this. It makes no sense to drill any hole in your trailer if you don't know whether it will hit a hollow space or a stud. You could end up with a couple of ugly holes in the side of your trailer that will stick out like a sore thumb if you ever try to sell or trade in your trailer.

But, please share any info you find out about this...

I have a Cherokee that the previous owner put a handle on twice! It pulled out the first and second time. The top is holding but the bottom is coming out again.
