Furrion head unit replace?

Hi, curious if anyone has chosen to replace the incredibly awful head units that come in our trailers, and what you decided to go with.

I have not even given that a thought thus far. I only use it for local radio. Anything else I use Sirius for music and a usb drive for movies on my smart TVs.

What do you use the Furrion unit for and what are its shortcomings?

The sound is terrible. The units are cheap junk.

I'll replace it with a double din auto stereo, but I was curious what others have done.

I think that goes without saying since it is a Furrion and is in an RV from Forest River. LOL

I put in a separate Rockford Fosgate for outside in my basement. That works great!Next Iím replacing my inside speakers in the 5er. After that Iíll figure out if itís worth changing the head unit.
To me, to make it worthwhile inside, Iíd need to add an amp, subwoofer and head unit.

While I agree with the sentiment...the real sonic problem is the speakers. Replace those with decent quality and sized speakers (use standoff rings if you need more depth), and you'll get a major improvement even if you still decide to ditch the Furrion. A nice double DIN unit from a major company will function better and last longer...but only provide a minor improvement in sound without the speaker change out.

YES, YES, YEs. That's 3 times, 2 under warranty one out of frustration.
I put in a unit ripped from my Chevy, (which was an aftermarket unit installed when the original unit developed a problem and the then owner couldn't fix it). I replaced that with a unit with inbuilt GPS.

I also added individual rocker switches to compensate for now not having inbuilt speaker selector buttons (which allowed me to re-assign the speakers) and made the escutcheon mounting baffle to match the original bezel.

I also hung a power strip behind the wall to cater for the added blue-ray player, sound bar & sub woofer and a power adapter for the extra antenna amp I installed.

Cool. I will be going that route when budget permits. In the meantime I have this block rocker unit, but it's pretty heavy. Works well outside.
