Install ladder after purchase

I have purchased a used 2006 Wildwood Le 27BHSS Travel Trailer but it did not have a rear ladder on it. Would like to install one now, is this possible beening it did not come with one from the fractory? I have been told there is blocking there from fractory. Any pros & cons
Thks

I have a similar situation with my Flagstaff 831BHSS. One dealer told me that if I let them do it, they would have to "RIP" off the entire back of my camper to see if the blocks were in there, then add if needed and finish the job. The "RIPPING" scared me so I called another dealer (Tom Johnson in Concord NC where we purchased our used unit). They told me that it probably already has the blocks because they were the dealer that sold the unit new and they normally always order them prepped for ladder install. As far as I know, (and im sure these more experienced campers know better) the best bet is to go to a trustworthy dealer and just let them check it out for you. I feel like they should be able to check for you without "RIPPING" anything.

wouldn't these "blocks" be basically the same a wall studs? so a good stud finder should be able to locate them right?

or am I way off here? don't answer that Steve

Stud finder works, so you're not way off on that. HOWEVER, yes, you ARE way off!

i just got a 2008 le 29bhbs, no ladder
i am having if installed by dealer. he plans to support off rear bumper as well as attach to rear walls. he will ask for a diagram of the rear wall construction to ensure stability. hope it works well for you. he also recommends not using the ladder for misc storage, ie bikes, etc. also doesnt recommend using bumper for bike racks using the U bolts, just a safety/structural concern, really depends on how it is installed and what it is attached to, road use, etc

No ladder

I just ordered our 8288ss w/o ladder as it blocked one of the rear windows. I asked several dealers what the ladder was used for, and they said cleaning the roof. As I plan to do this at home, AND I don't want to walk on the roof for safety reasons, I decided I can use a tall ladder from the garage and move it for complete access from below w/o getting on the roof.

Curious if my plan is a bad one.

If one IS very convenient I can add a removable type that we can remove when in the CG and stow it below the 5th... I hope.

I need to call the planner at the plant soon , and could probably re-add it to the build sheet?/....

Thanks for any input

Ladders could work for most things. I have had to do this on our other hybrid TT. It was a bit difficult to place the cover on the TT and inspection and sealing roof may be difficult off standard ladders. With the new TT I just wante to start off with a ladder, since we didnt order the unit but bought off lot we have had dealer add a few options to be what we wanted. We also are hoping the ladder can be moved to miss our rear window, ours has a window offset to one side, it may work ok. I also dont cherish the idea of getting on the top but it sometimes may be necessary. Enjoy your camper
