I had to carry full coverage on my camper while it was park on a seasonal site and a i just drop it because i have remove it off of the site. It was covered for full replacement. Now that i am towing it again the full coverage on my tow vehicle covers the camper. The cost of full coverage while on the seasonal site was $200.00 a year.

I just received a bill for tag renewal for my camper and the cost is $160 bucks for two years and it is a travel trailer, what a rip-off That's Maryland for ya

i have had st farm sense 1992 on the trailer. had my first claim in 2004. it was paid promply to the repair facility.

i have responded to rate quotes from one offered by my camping mag with the line that the average person that switches saves ~$300 (i pay less than $550/yr). their quotes have always been $200+. i'm still trying to figure out what the difference is between what i have and what they have.

Insurance is no exception. Having ALL your coverages with the same company makes sense from many different perspectives. Having Home, Auto, and RV insurance with the same company has a huge discount.

I am sure your problem had to do with your car company trying to pawn off paying to your boat insurance company.

I agree - have it all with one company ( I use progressive). I just called them and with them at least, a trailer is covered by your TV policy with the same coverages even if you trailer has no insurance.

Your TT might be covered by the TV insurance when towing but is it covered when not attached to the TV?

You have to check around, having all of business with one company will not always give the best rates on everything.
We had all of our insurance with Geico, the insurance on the cars (6)+(camper) full coverage on all had drop $1,300 when we went with them, but our homeowners was sky high so we went with another insurance company with that but they could not bet Geico's rates on the cars even if we insured everything. In most cases you can get special rates but check around and compare.

I am confused here. I agree that your TV insurance covers your camper while it is in motion; what covers it when it is parked or at a campground NOT being towed? If it catches fire while camping, your TV insurance won't cover it. If a tree falls on it; your TV insurance won't cover it. If a hail storm ruins your roof the TV insurance won't cover it.

Sorry, I don't get your logic for canceling your full coverage now that you are towing it.

Insuring a Seasonal camper is different altogether. He most likely had a policy that insured his camper, golf carts, deck etc. This coverage is not available through auto insurance companies. You have to go through Foremost Insurance or similar companies. If you have a seasonal site and are insured with Allstate call your agent, you are most likely not covered.

I talked to my insurance broker before purchasing insurance on my TT. I was informed that the TT would be insured under my TV policy while I was travelling on the highway but as soon as I diconected the TT from the TV I had no coverage. Plus my TV policy only covered pulic liability and not any damage to the TT. I would be very careful when cancelling insurance on a TT.

Now y'all have me questioning mine. I need to go look up my policy I guess. I have full replacement insurance on my camper, but only liability on my tow vehicle. I think I remember my agent telling me my trailer was covered no matter what but will have to check. Trailer and all vehicles are thru progressive.
Also, my homeowners is thru a different ccompany and they couldn't even come close on insuring my vehicles.

We use Citizen's Insurance. I'm not sure what our cost is for the camper though. We hvee cars/home/camper insurance with them and they have the lowest cost we could find.

Lou is right, make sure you have your trailer covered with ins, on its own. Give your ins co some scenarios, then you will find out why you need it. A good example ie; someone falls, and brakes their arm while getting out of your camper. It is not covered by your homeowners or tow vehicle

We have insurance through sterling ins, I am a ford motor retiree ( discount ), The house,car,truck, motorcycle,and travel trailer are covered through safeco ins,, checkout their rates ..
