Jack Size

What size jack does everyone use to change a tire on their camper if the max weight is 7,000 pounds? Thanks so much for any and all advice!!!

I've been carrying a Walker 3 1/2 ton bottle jack that I've had for over 30 years. That and some blocking and a good breaker bar and deep socket has done the trick on all my rigs through the years.

Are you putting blocks of wood under the jack and on top? My husband is asking. Thanks so much!!!!

Jack the trailer up and put something solid for the frame to sit on. Cement blocks, timbers, etc. Just make sure it is strong enough to hold the weight and stable so it doesn't shift.

I use a 12 ton hydraulic bottle jack. Mostly because I already had it. If I were to buy a new one, I'd buy a 6 ton model, just because it's a little lighter.

You may need to buy a low profile jack. Measure the distance from the frame to the ground on the camper and subtract the height of the tire sidewall and buy a jack a little less than that height. That'll ensure that it'll fit under the frame when the tire is flat.

I also take a pair of 2 ton aluminum jack stands with me. They are lighter and smaller than any cribbing or blocking that I could carry.
