hi Bryce. No not made here in Oz, fully imported from the states by the previous owners in 2009. We bought it in October last year. I do believe there are Caravans (travel trailer to you guy's) being built over there to suit Australian standards now to get into the Ozzie market easier. I am not sure if Forest River are one of them.

Though I am wondering if this was the start to make caravans for the aussie market seeing it does have a LHS door which is a must and law here and there are also the silver stickers on the sides and front that do look like a jumping kangaroo. But this one did have to have the gas and electrical system changed to suit Australian standards.

It does still run a 110 volt fridge and roof top a/c, plus various 110 volt power points. The original owners only got 5 240 volt power points installed and a 240 volt to 110 volt invertor.

Yes the box on the back is a domestic reverse cycle a/c system I put on. I have a small write-up of it in the Modifications forum.

All nice looking units!

Kayzdad - nice seasonal setup! You have some nice property!

Thekipkers - welcome to the forums! Nice Camp!

Scubaboy323 - Nice rig! Your rig is similar to our and yeah, we LOVE our 8289WKS!

JohnW - Do you use your caravan as a seasonal camper or does it travel the highways and byways of Oz? NICE A/C Mod BTW!

@JohnW - so you made it ok? Is that your permanent location now?
What did you end up doing with the problems on the trailer walls?

It's our only abode mate, lived in it full time since purchase last year. Because of medical issues I cant get a mortgage to buy a house, so we decided to buy a house on wheels with what we had. So far it's done the east coast (where we bought it) to the west coast where we currently live. The plan is to travel all around Oz etc. but due to finances we are parked up for quite a while. Luckily my uncle and aunty are letting us stay on their block.

hi mate. Yep got home thanks. Well this is the permanent location until I can afford the fuel etc. and hook up and bugger off. We are really wishing that was last month as winter isn't too nice down this part of Oz, would much rather be up in Darwin!

I babied it all that way home and have since done some 'repairs'...
I've strengthened the area I had to cut away to get to the floor to chassis bolts with metal straps and screw and put new bolts through from the floor surface with a spreader bar. Also went along the whole chassis underneath and installed a series of large coach screws up into the floor. We do have some rather shitty roads down here, so there maybe some other things I'll have to look at before we get a chance to take off. Defiantly will have to purchase a airbag tow hitch to soften the blow through the chassis seeing the truck has very rigid suspension.

John I like your tow vehicle, that's what I'm looking to do. Either a box truck or flat bed , how does it work for you looking for input before I go looking for one.

hi Mark, we couldn't afford a huge F truck or preferably a dodge ram, the price of them down here is ridiculous. Plus I wanted to be able to take a 2nd vehicle with us for the missus if we stop somewhere along the way for an extended period of time or there is some sort of emergency. I really wanted a dual cab, but at the time of purchase we were on the other side of Oz and had to pick the caravan up and get home. So we found the one pictured, bought it and put the missus car we drove over with on the back and picked up the van. I am looking at selling this one plus my old motorhome (bus) that I am fixing up and hoping to be able to purchase a 4x4 dual cab Isuzu truck. My preference is a NPS300 4wd dual cab. little bit smaller with the 155hp engine but will still pull the van fine. I can also be able to go off road with the truck and see the hard to get to parts of Oz.

The truck is a FRR500 single cab, but still fits myself, missus, daughter and the dog in ok. It's only a 175hp engine, but being Isuzu it is strong. The suspension being all heavy duty spring front and rear is a bit stiff, but isn't too bad. Apparently you can get different spring set-ups to make for a more comfortable ride or the best option I've seen another small Isuzu truck owner with 5th wheeler do is a full air bag conversion. Though I highly doubt I could afford either. Heck the drivers seat if a suspension seat, and with a load on the truck rides better.

That's exactly the thing I'm talking about we have a 68 Beetle we want to take for short trips while camping. Think this would work for my trailer too, trailer is 6200 lbs unloaded and car is 1800 lbs. Now just finding the truck.

Heck you could almost back it up next to the trailer and use it like a deck if you made a way to connect a gangway between the trailer and the truck bed.

haha... yea I guess if you wanted. I think I would prefer to make a fold down deck off the van if I wanted to be off the ground when outside...

but would kind of take away the point of 'camping out'.... haha
