New 2011 Wildwood Owner / Generator Question

Hello All,

Just bought my 1st RV, a 2011 Wildwood 22FBS. We love it. But now I need to get a generator and I have a question. Will a traditional non inverter generator be ok or do I have to spend the $$$$ to get an inverter one?
Looking at the Home Depot LIFAN ES 3500CA for when we dry camp. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks..

Henry

Desert Dog,
Welcome to the forum!!
It all depends on what you want to spend. I use a Champion 4000/3500. Reasonably priced, not to loud and has been good for us. The Hondas are realy nice if want to go high end. Search the top of the page in the FRF side of the search and look for generators.

desertdog, when you say "dry camping", i think you mean boondocking.
dry camping usually means when you camp in a campground that has no hookups but has developed campsites.

boondocking is camping where there aren't any assigned or developed campsites and you also have no hookups.

if you aren't going to be in any campground or have neighbors nearby, the Champion 3500 is the most popular generator out there.
usually can be bought for less than $300.

available at a lot of places, including CW and O'Reilly's Auto Parts.

Desert Dog,
My champion is a little loud but if your not too close, it is not that bad. I paid $299.00 for mine early last year. I keep up with the maintenance and run it hard.

For an open-frame gennie, it's not bad.
But there's no comparison to an inverter gennie.
Only when demand is high, will an inverter gennie get near the noise level of the Champion.
But it'll purr like kitten when recharging the battery, where the Champion will just as noisy as when running the a/c.
Do a comparison and listen to each kind, while running.
I did and ended up buying a Honda 2000.
