according to what i've found, the Canyon won't be able either.
as i said, the MAX that a 5cyl. Canyon can tow, with the factory tow package, is only 4000lbs. and that's ONLY if there's a 150lb. driver in it. any other passengers or cargo in the truck, lowers that number.

the yellow sticker weight of that trailer, which is its weight when it left the factory, will be well over that 4000lbs. tow max.
and that's with no battery, water or any cargo.
plus, it's wwayy over the max hitch weight.

unfortunately, you have two vehicles that aren't up to safely tow that trailer.

did the dealer tell you, "sure, you'll have no problems towing that"?

Hi, I drive a 2009 Titan XE, and tow a 6000 lb TT, with no problems. I use the Tow mode and 4 gear. I guess I don't get the best gas mileage, but tow like there is nothing behind me.

According to the trailer life tow ratings the canyon can tow up to 5500 lbs. Need more information on the truck. not sure what the numbers are you have listed. the truck should have the GVWR (gross vehicle weight rating) this is the maximum the truck can weigh with all your stuff, including passengers and the hitch weight of the trailer. there should be a max tow rating , and a GCWR gross combined weight rating, the total of the truck fully loaded and the trailer fully loaded. what ever the numbers you will be very close or over you max weights. If you go to the mountains the little 5 cylinder is going to have a hard time (242 hp and only 240 lb/ft of torque).

Happy Vibe, i stand corrected. you are correct that the absolute max is 5500lbs.
apparently, one configuration of the Canyon has the 4000lbs. tow rating.

i checked the 2008 Canyon owner's manual towing section.
starting on pg. 4-46, a chart shows the towing capacities of all Canyon configurations.

the version that can tow 5500lbs., has to have the factory tow package with the 3.73 rear end ratio and a GCWR of 9500lbs.(4309kg) or 9800lbs.(4445kg).

TimandDebbie will have to check out what the GCWR(not GVWR)of their Canyon is.
