Queen Mattress hard as a rock

We went on our inaugural trip and we loved the new camper all except the dang mattress. What the Heck???

We couldn't sleep at all it was so uncomfortable we hated it.

So we ordered a 8" memory foam mattress and took the original one out. When I unzipped it I found a spider web of hard plastic and two thin pieces of cheap foam. That's the best Forest River could do?Click image for larger version

Same on our 368RLBHK. Ours was the so called king. I swapped queen Cougar Platinum mattress out before I sold the 5th. You can probably upgrade when purchasing. The Cougar Platinum is as good as I sleep on at home.

Already put in a 8" cool gel memory foam mattress today. Letting it air out now.

Ours is hard too , eventually when we start taking longer trips we want the sleep number mattress but for now a memory foam topper will have to do.

The master bed is probably just a thin mattress on a piece of plywood (no box spring). Our original mattress is more comfortable on the fold-out sofa up front. Put in a Sleep Number mattress and have slept much better and guest like the upgrade from the air mattress that came with the sofa. That mattress is put on top of the master bed during the daytime.

With the exception of the top of the line RVs, this is where all RV manufacturers skimp. It was the same on our Rockwood when we had a 5er - first thing replaced was the mattress (and then the china bomb tires! )

Since we travel for more than 60 days per year, we went to a mattress store and ordered a short queen for the same price as the normal queen. Pocket coil, memory foam, pillow top and the firmness that we wanted.. arrived in 2 weeks, and it is the best $800 we have ever spent
