Slide out weatherproofing issue

Hello:

We have a fairly new 2013 FR Wildwood 27RLS. I had the slide out open over the 4th of July weekend, and decided to look up on top of the slide for any debris. To my horror, about 50% or better of the sealant (a grey mastic) which is still incredibly tacky had come off the slider on the wall side, and was attached to the rubber gasket on the trailer side. This left holes in the sealant, up to a quarter inch that water can pour into the slide out wall.

I am a paint engineer, and it seem criminal that FR uses a tacky mastic type weather seal for this application. It really should be something that cures hard-like RTV silicone.

Anyone else have this experience?

Also, see my other post-this is a warranty issue, and the dealer here in SoCal, McMahons-has recently gone under, and they are the only dealer listed for SoCal on the Forest River website. So where do we go for warranty work?

You might get a better response if we move this post to the wildwood section of the form, or the slide out section.
I have moved it to the wildwood section for now. Pictures always help our members understand whats going on with a problem like this.

Slide issue

I took pictures, but they don't show the issue well, as the gasket is in the shadow. I may try to put them up, now that you bring it up. Also, thanks, I did not know there was a Wildwood section!

First picture: The sealant which was originally to seal on the right, is now stuck to the rubber gasket/rubber flashing on the left.

Second: much of the sealant is missing, there are holes for water to leak into the slider wall.

This is a 2014 Wildwood, seem like they used the wrong type sealant.

I'm not an expert, nor can I get pictures (don't do ladders anymore), but on mine there is a rubber gasket the length of the slide attached to the slide wall that seals the slide when it is closed. The slide gaskets (top and sides ) plus the inside gasket seals the slide when it is open. Hope this helps.
