Slide room crank..?

Well, our 2003 Wildwood 26FLS has one problem looming I think, since everything happpens to me-I am a Murphy's Law gold medal winner!!--there is no place on the outside to crank the slide room in if there is a failure of the electrical system...I called them to verify this little fact and Yep!I was right!Seems you would have to crawl UNDER the TT and ratchet the a 68 yr.old obese lady, I find this to be almost impossible--Has anyone else run into this? Any solutions? Does it really ever happpen that you need to do it?? I need some feedback to soothe my nerves now, please! Jan

It does not happen often. No doubt a good Samaritan, such as a campground owner, would be around to help you out.

I had a 2006 Salem LE 26FLS and found out about the slide crank the hard way. I was lucky that the slide was in. I crawled under the trailer and tried to manually move the slide out. It would have taken all day. I cranked for about 10 minutes and maybe moved the slide 2 or 3 inches. I eneded up removing the cover off the motor and found a bad plastic gear.
I traded the trailer in and the dealership changed out the gear, easy fix, as part of the deal. They sold the trailer in less than two weeks.
When you move your slide in and out, try not to go so far that you hear the motor skipping. I believe that is what caused my problem.
Good luck and I hope you never have a problem with your slide.
