Stands/Jacks under the slide outs

We are new the "slide" world so please bear that in mind when answering the n00b question. I have seen that some people with slides will put supports or jacks under their slides and others do not.

Obviously this is probably a lot of opinion but what are the pros/cons of doing this?

One "con" is that it is generally not recommended by the manufactures, doing so may void the warranty.

Definitely NOT!

just ask yourself,,, if you had supports under the slide out and the RV shifted what would happen?

Most say not to do it for the fact if the camper happens to settle a bit and the jacks under the slides don't you run the risk of twisting the frames on the slide.

as was said, slide manufacturers say NOT to use such things.

those things are holdovers from the early days of slideouts, when the technology was somewhat new and there were issues.
those haven't been necessary for at least the last 10 years of RVs.

X2 on bikendan's post. You do not and should not use them.

No to slide jacks

Greetings! I am not an expert, but I have been cautioned by the dealers and service people I have questioned on the subject. Each one has stated to make sure you are parked level, the main trailer is properly supported and level, and then extend the slide completely.

Trying to level a unit after the slide has been extended may create other issues.

On a previous trailer, before I had the 6 point leveling system, I added scissor jacks to the midpoint on the frame ( coincidentally near my slideout ) and it helped greatly with the stability of the unit.

Good luck,
Don

We never have in the 10 years of camping. When we get ready to go and we are cleaning, we don't put the jacks down when we slide out the slide. It has never hurt it at all
