suburban water heater not lighting

Disconnect ignter lead from circuit board and igniter then reinstall. Disconnect wiring harness from circuit board then reinstall. Check ignitor probe gap at burner to ensure there is good spark and contact with flame. If this fails time for a circuit board.

Thanks for the help. I disconnected and reconnected everything more than once. Played with the igniter gap. I have a new board coming tomorrow. If this fixes it im buying another board for backup. My wife doesnt like going without hot water. Lol!

I got my board today. Swapped it out and it fired right up. I hope this one lasts longer than the first one. We got about 9 days of use out of the first one.

I haven't read all replies. But, as an hvac tech, gas units all need a flame sensor. It's part of the ignition assembly usually. That way, if ignition fails, it won't be pouring gas in. Try cleaning it lightly with emory cloth.

Is it possible the limit trip needs reset? There is also a fusible link behind the thermostat panel but you can push the reset button from the outside.

Jughrad, I really like that Suburban diagram. However, I do need to point out something for anyone who may look at it in the future, especially the part numbers. That diagram and part numbers are for the Australian version of their water heater. It will show a 240 volt thermostat and electric heating element..... whereas the North American water heaters are 120 volt.

You would not use the part numbers in the diagram for the North American market.

Saw this post just this morning. We are out camping right now, and had the same thing happen to our WH yesterday. I went through everything on the face of the WH to make sure it was all good, then lifted the bench at the dinette where the WH is located. Found the circuit board and it was very got to the touch. Pulled the tape off of the WH holding the circuit board, and disconnected it. Found that a resistor had burned, melting the solder to another run and thus fried the board. I am with the original poster, not going to tow the trailer to the dealer only to have it sit for 3 weeks until they check it out. Bought a new board on Amazon for $80 and will replace it Tuesday. A 10 month old trailer shouldn't have an issue like this.
