Surround Sound for TV

This has probably already been asked, but I thought I would try again...

My 5er is a Heritage Glen 356QBQ. I include pictures of the audio system and TV below.

The issue is that I want the TV to play its sound through the DVD surround system. The TV is a Jensen that has two audio RCA jacks out. I plugged in an RCA audio cable (Red and White) to those outputs.

On the back of the DVD player, there are two audio in jacks. In order to get to the back of that system, you have to pop off the black bezel, then unscrew 4 phillips screws and you can see the back side. I pluggedc in the other end of the audio cable to these two inputs.

My reasoning is that I could then listen to the TV sound through the RVs built in speakers in the ceiling. But alas, it doesn't work.

Does anyone know why? Is there something I haven't tried? Is this even possible? I am thinking it's not, because if it were, then FR would have hooked it up this way. But the TV's built in speakers are pretty anemic. I want good sound!

The DVD system sounds great playing a DVD, or tuning in a radio station. But no sound out from the TV outputs to its inputs.

Maybe someone has the manual that would explain how to make this work?

I believe it would just be some options settings in both units

Have you pushed that. AUX Button on the DVD player?

On your TV go into the menu/settings and change Audio Out to Fixed. THen to the Menu/Audio and change TV Speaker to Off. See if that does it.

On your TV go into the Menu/Settings and change Audio Out to Fixed. If it is set to Variable the TV volume will control the output and you may have to turn the TV volume up to hear it.

THen to the Menu/Audio and change TV Speaker to Off. See if that does it. If the TV Speaker is set to on it may not output to the RCA.

ETA: I do not have a built in. Designed it myself.
I now have a completely differrent RV than you, I just worked with a lot of audio in the past.

Are you sure the TV RCA jacks are 'OUT' and the DVD RCA jacks are 'in'.

I think I see a AUX mini plug on the Front of the DVD?

Not absolutely certain about in/out designations, but I don't see why there would be in jacks to a TV.

I will try the other settings you recommended and reply back.

I went from audio out on my Dish Network box to audio in the back of my radio and set the TV as described above and works great. I seem to remember trying to run it through the tv but couldn't make it work. I will take a look this weekend and see what I can figure out and post findings.

I have my sound hooked upto my Satellite receiver with the rca cables to the back of the sound system and it works just fine over the trailers sound system. The DVD player also plays out of the sound system as well, so I have things all working fine for my needs.

If I am watching Tv off the Antenna the sound just comes from the TV.

I have a Wildwood with the same setup. Set the audio in the radio to aux and it should work. I didn't do anything to the TV speakers but turn them down. I wouldn't bother because the trailer sound system sounds like crap anyway. The TV speakers are much better. Better option is to get yourself a soundbar. I am looking into replacing the trailer speakers with Bose or Cambridge Soundworks speakers. I just haven't done it yet.

My RV speakers are better than the TV, but besides that, I also have outside speakers. So that helps.
Now that I think about it, I am wondering if I can also get the outside speakers to give me the TV sound!

The A B C buttons select whatever speakers you want.

The solution is simple, you need to use a patch cord with RCA plugs on one end for the TV outputs and a stereo 2.5mm plug for the aux input on the receiver. Select aux on the receiver and either A, B, or C for speakers. Done deal! Make sure you turn TV speakers off.

My system lets me also puts the tv sound to the out side speakers.

In jacks on TV are for DVD sound in. ( not necessarily your DVD but standalone). You need an 1/8 stereo cable, but you can go from headphone out on back of TV to aux in on DVD player.

If you don't mind the single wire, this is the easiest way to go for sure.
