Toilet Bowl not holding water

Toilet bowl not holding water above "flush lever" and gasket. Anyone ever had problem with this - seems like it's probably a warped gasket that's not sealing properly? This is in my 2015 Wildwood 261 BHXL...not loking at it right now, but I'm assuming it's a Dometic toilet.

Thanks!

Seals are available.......easy to change......you need to know the model to get the right seal

We've had that problem a few times and a simple wipe around the seal with some paper corrected the problem.

The new seals, after install'n, recommend you coat the seal, where the slide ball rubs, with silicone grease that Lowe's, or HD carry in the faucet repair area

Mine would leak down too. I used the lube that I use on the rubber orings on my swimming pool filter basket. Fixed it!

Mine came with a glorified (plastic) Popsicle stick that you use to "clean" all around the top and bottom of the gasket. Once I did that and hit it with some silicone, it stopped leaking. Good luck!

When I had that problem I used:

Thetford 36663 Toilet Seal Lube & Conditioner

And then it worked fine. May be worth trying.

Clean the seal then buy some vasiline, a jar might cost .80 cents. Makes the toielit flap real fast.

I have had that problem and to fix. I clean the gasket and area where it fits with soap/water with an old tooth brush. Also with the old tooth brush, tie a string on the tooth brush and wrist, just in case. You don't want to drop into the tank. Leave some water in the toilet so that your seals will not dry out. Then if it does not hold water, try the Thedford seal conditioner or Vasoline. If that fails, you must replace the seals.

Toilet Bowl not holding water

Had that same problem with my 2015 Silverback and after reading the instructions for the toilet, it said to run your finger around the seal with downward pressure. Did that a few times and now it holds water.

Got the one I just changed out sitt'n here at the Mayberry rally, and a person pointed out that if look down at the seal, make sure the top section of the bowl has the same amount of seal snow'n all around.....there's 2 screw at the back that you can loosen and adjust the valves to better line the seal up

Just a heads up. Be careful using Vasoline in any water based seal application. Vasoline has petroleum and rubber seals and gaskets used for water are usually made of EPDM rubber that will break down when petroleum put on them. Best to use something like KY jelly or silicone. (Been in the rubber seal business for over 30 years).

Thanks everyone for the replies! After numerous times of checking the seals, slide ball, etc for multiple days over the weekend I finally found the problem...All it was was one of the 2 pegs that holds the slide ball up had come out of its female position making the slide ball barely sit below the gasket.
Felt like an idiot, but glad it was that simple!!

I was having this issue on my new one. I discovered that I just needed to keep a little more water in the bowl after flushing. Apparently the seal just needs a tad more head pressure.

Thanks for letting us know what the problem was.

What model was the toilet? It'd be good to know in case someone else has the same problem. We can tell them what to look for if it isn't the seal.

Thanks for asking. I've been avoiding an issue with a toilet for about a month and a half now.
