We have a Rockwood 2502s and I have the 5x5" fence post mounted on the bumper. I think it looks good... and I'm a girl. I don't want to have to take off the couplings every time I dump so I needed something bigger than the bumper. The spare tire is also mounted on the bumper, which helps to disguise it. I don't have a picture of the bumper but you can just see the end of the white fence post at the rear of the trailer in this picture from last fall. The white tailed doe is free gratis.
Leave these on...they act as skid plates when you experience a steep incline\decline. Pull the plastic caps off your rear bumper...put your hose inside the bumper. Seriously, it's about all it's really good for LOL!
Try fore/aft using the frame as support. The hose collapses to quite short. 2 or 3 short 5” boxes could work. You may need to angle one end out to allow clearance for the frame outriggers and hose insert/withdrawal.
Notice mine is ty-wrapped in place as a “temporary” trial. Been there about 6 months. This box holds two lengths of hose and the 90 deg clear elbow with a “gutter drawer”. Elbow is stored loose and must go in with bayonets first to clear the 5” cap retaining bolt. The spacers between bumper and box provide clearance for the spare tire bracket bolts and to minimize rust between box and bumper.
This far better than in the forward storage and odors wafting up to the living area. Hose is not always deployed.

I want another way to store a sewer hose and the best spot is where these are welded. Can I cut those off and put 5x5 vinyl post cover with sewer hose where they are?. I have a 179dbk. !Attachment 208336
Not advisable to cut the triangles off, there purpose is to protect the bumper and any other low hanging items from being damaged or ripped off. If your looking to create a sewer hose storage spot I would recommend putting it on top. Just need to ask, why aren't you storing the hose inside the steel bumper as designed ?

You can have a good welder cut them off and weld squares on in their place, large enough for your 5x5 fence post cover to fit inside. I would beef it up at the same time by using 1/4"x2" bar stock.
