mine is 1 1/16, but i only had a 1 1/8, i was able to remove but it is difficult to remove the anode from the socket, i finally got it though.

i had plumbing almost in front of the anode so using other wrenches with an extension on a socket didnt work.

glad you found the socket that best fits
