What would you do?

Our new 2010 Wildwood trailer has a spot directly below the TV in the dining area that is wired with plugs for the DVD and antenna to connect to the tv... BUT... the space is open to view and is ugly... See picture... I can dress the wires but they will still look bad... If this was your trailer, how would you cover or hide this area but yet keep it easily accessable.. We have considered hinging a picture frame or small bulletin board over it with the frame stained to the same color as the other wood in the trailer. The new Wildwood has this opening on the other side of the wall in the sleeping area.. BUT.. not ours. Any ideas oor suggestions would be greatly appreciated...

I would put a really nice vent cover over it. Wood would be nice. Then it will look like it has a purpose.

Find or make a cabinet door to match the other cabinet doors in your rig to the size of the opening. You can use magnetic or roller type catches to hold the door in place.

+1 on a door to cover it up.

Smoke colored glass, hinged at the bottom, magnet catch on top. Would hide VCR, DVD, etc., if you ever put one there. Just open for access. when needed. Also remote would work if the glass was closed. Check with a glass shop. Get the same color hinges as in the rest of the trailer, and matching style if possible. Take a picture og other hinges to the glass shop. Hope they can help.

Post pics when you figure it out.

How about send this pix to FR and ask them for a solution? Maybe they still have the matching border and can create something. It certainly wasn't well thought out by them in the first place.

I agree with Granite, Send it over to FR and see what they come up with.
You may also get some panduit (plastic conduit) it comes with self-adhesive and stik on the top part to hide the wires. You can also buy the corners for the panduit and make seem very profesional. If you do get the panduit, try placeing it on the back-corner part ot this area, out of site- out mind. you can also add and replace wire down the road. Panduit clips on and off on one side. You can find it at Graybar, Home Depot, Lowe's, Fry's along with corner accesories.

I would love to send it to FR BUT..I can't find an email address for them anywhere... Even phone calls are hard to complete to them... Just poor design that was changed this year... apparently I am not the only one that didn't like this particular feature.. Rewiring is an option... Thought that somebody from FR might also read these forums as does the Builder/MFG of my Arima Boat... they are usually the first to post a response to their product owners.. Keep inputs coming.. Once resolved, I will post pictures..

Once I contacted Forest River, they quicky offered several suggestions on what could be done to correct the problem. Within a matter of days, they sent me a door that almost perfectly matched the wood in the trailer, and all I had to do was find some hinges and a magnetic closer and do the install. I can't say enough on the help that Forest River provided me.

Definitely a 100% improvement. It's great to hear FR is willing to address this issue and make good on a solution including the part to fix it.
Does make you wonder whoever thought that particular look would be acceptable????
