Where does this wire go???

Ok 28dbud owners, I have a 2016 model. Under the camper at the front inside frame (just behind the battery) this brown wire that is bolted to the frame (I'm assuming it's a ground) was loose on my camper. I can't figure out what it's supposed to go to. Any info would be great, I'm having some other intermittent electrical issues, not sure if this is my problem.

A picture sure would help folks to see exactly what's going on with your wiring. Without a pic, I'm wondering if there is a mechanical connector in the wire or the tongue where the wire might have once been attached?
Also, is the wire sleeving stripped back an inch or so that would allow a mechanical/electrical connection? Are there any clamp marks on the wire?
As you can see, unless someone has your exact RV, it's pretty hard to guess what's going on.

If it is connected to the FRAME it is a GROUND. If you have a meter measure it from the plus to the screw in the frame with the wire. Get 12v it's a ground...

So you're saying that one end IS connected to the frame and the other end is stripped, but hanging loose?
Can you tell what gauge wire it is? (large, small, in between.)
Is it long enough to reach the battery?

Is your intermittent electrical issues 12 volt or 120 volt related?

It's a small braided wire brown wire. I'm not sure if it would reach battery. It def was hooked to something. There's an electric junction box close under there, I opened it but can't see anything obvious that it would have came from there. My issues are 12v, power awning, power slide and power stab jacks won't work. Battery seems to be charged, unplug from shore power and batt level shows full and lights still work. If i hook my 7way from truck it will work these items. Most of the time when this problem happens I can plug in 7way and they start back working even when I unplug 7way. Yesterday they stopped working while i was moving slide and wouldn't work unless 7way is plugged in.

To post a picture, do not use the "Quick Reply" option. Instead use the "Post Reply" button, which is directly under the last post. There is a header, below where you type, which is titled "Additional Options." In there is a button titled "Manage Attachments." That is what you press to attach an image.

I hope that helps.

Usually, if a wire is secured to the trailer frame via clamps or straps, it has to do with the actual trailer wiring. The wire hanging may be a brake wire. Brake wires are usually left hanging down by the manufacturer and when you drive over some brush or sticks it can get snagged and pulled loose. I've seen it happen.

Good luck

That looks like a device ground. Maybe jacks or something similar?

Did you open up the wire loom and see if there's a wire in there that's not connected to anything?

Yes. The wire loom has a brown wire in it that runs from the junction box to the back of the trailer. Doesn't seem like this wire goes in there. I've stretched it out trying to figure out what it would reach and where it would come from. I thought maybe someone with the same camper could tell me for sure where it goes.

It's a ground. Where does the other end attach? I had intermetiace 12v problems; was a weak ground to frame.

Looks like it might be the ground for the breakaway switch. On my similar trailer, the breakaway box is located inboard on the right side frame just behind the tongue.

It sounds like the 7 pin is providing ground from you tow vehicle (TV) to these devices. Now I don't have power stab jacks, but my slide and awning grounds are not at the front of the trailer.

But, if something is grounded on the back side of the frame; towards the rear, I have never seen it.

If that wire and another was in the same end of a butt splice and got ripped out it might why connections seem intact. Maybe towards a stab jack OR switch for the stablizer... wild guessing here.

Trying to figure the angle of the photo. Why am I seeing the battery on what appears to be a frame rail?

WolfWhistle, I think what you are looking at is the front frame rail that the electric and lp gas lines are run thru. Batteries must be on a rack in front of that. Like others, it's hard to say what that brown wire is a ground for without seeing more than what the picture shows. Need to see another picture to the right of the first picture, who knows?

I think if it is a ground wire, you would get a voltage reading of 0, not 12v. You'd get 12v if it was a hot wire.

I haven't called dealer yet. May try them Monday. I'm fairly mechanicaly inclined, figured I could figure it out myself, but no luck, lol. Thanks for all the input, I'll try and add some better pics when i get off work. It won't reach the stab jack motor, don't think it's meant to go all the way to the back where the tanks are.
