Winnebago and Forest River

Site Team Edit; This post and subsequent replies were moved into their own thread here from another thread.

I dealt with a warranty issue on our TT and found that Forrest River was been bought by Winnebago and things have changed a little.
Now, for warranty work you're unit will have to be taken to a dealership on Winnebago's repairer list of you will have to pay for the repair and will be reimbursed at a later date.

Just where did you get the information that Forest River was bought by Winnebago? I believe you have been misinformed. Forest River is a conglomerate of many RV manufacturing companies. Grand Design was the latest acquisition by Winnebago.

You are wrong.
Grand Design was acquired by Winnebago.

Forest River is a bigger company than Winnebago so it would be more likely that FR would acquire Winnebago, than the other way around.

It would be helpful if you posted what TT you have, in your profile or your signature line.

I was given that info by the Forrest River warranty advisor in Indiana. It must be true due to the fact that when I moved my TT from a local shop to one on their list the warranty work was in fact taken care of. I spoke to Forrest River manager Terry Milarczyk in Elkhart, Indiana who forwarded me to Wayne Bigler the Forrest River Customer Service Rep for my area, who advised that info.
Telephone number and e-mail addresses are available upon request.

Any chance you could have it backwards, and the local shop (or your selling dealer if not the same as local shop) was what had been bought out...not Forest River. That would make more sense, and the reason your local shop could not perform warranty work on a FR product since they were no longer a FR dealer.

Who was this local shop, and/or dealer you bought your RV from?

I wonder if Warren Buffett was told he sold Forest River

Or perhaps Winnebago buying FR may just be the best kept secret when it comes to a corporate acquisition ever.

Forest River has not been sold to Winnebago (or anyone else) and remains a wholly-owned subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway.
