Winterize my travel trailer

I have a Forest river wildwood 28ckds and was wondering how to winterize the trailer using the pink anti freeze do I put the stuff in the fresh water tank and let the water pump it thru or is there some other way that I don't know about?

does your unit have a pick up tube/straw at the docking station? mine does. short tube with a cap that can be removed and draws anti freeze from jug straight to pump

I’m not exactly sure about your model but you don’t want it in your fresh water. It will take forever to get that rinsed out. Should be a hose with a shut off valve attached to your water pump. First you want to find your low point drains, if you have them and drain them out. Be sure to open all the water knobs inside so the water can drain. Shut off all the knobs afterwards. Find the hose on your water pump and stick it in the jug of antifreeze. Turn your water pump on and let the pump fill and the pump should stop pumping. Make sure you bypass your water heater. Go around to each faucet and open til the pink comes out. Don’t forget your outside sink and shower if you have one. Do the toilet and inside shower too. Pour some pink down the drains so the traps fill. Dump the rest down the drains and into the black water tank via the toilet. I’m sure others will have their own way of wintering. You will figure out what works best for you.

Pump should be in the area above the fill for your fresh water. I had flip the switch for the pump a few times to hear where it was hiding.

Saw that video but I dont that kind of set up mine is just basic set up. I only have a city water connection and a water and fresh water connection no place so there must be a hose somewhere that I can do this just have to find it, thanks

What I do and have done in Indiana where it can get below zero in the winter. I drain water heater and all tanks. Bypass water heater. Using compressor set to 30 lbs. Place compressor on city water input. Blow out water lines by turning on the kitchen faucet, bathroom faucet, shower, shower and low water drains one at a time until no water comes out of each one. Pour 2 cups of anti freeze down each drain and toilet. Much easier to un-winterize in the spring or if I desire to camping before spring and want to winterize again because of no anti freeze in the lines. I made an adapter between compressor and city water hook up so that I don't have to go outside and turn compressor on and off. I just turn faucet on and off to build up pressure to blow out the line while leaving compressor on. I have done it this way with 4 RV's and 20 years with no problems.

What is the year of your Wildwood 28ckds? I looked on FR website and couldn't find it. What is the water connection you are talking about? Do you mean a Black Water Tank flush?

You need to locate the water pump and look for a hose that is connected in the intake line with a 2-way valve before the pump.

If you don't have a winterizing hose on your TT you can get a winterizing kit and add it to your plumbing.

Two things to check if you are using an air compressor only and not using antifreeze in the lines:

1. If you have a accumulator or surge tank and it is not installed with the water side pointing down then it may still have water in it.
2. Water filters may not empty completely with just air.

Also do not forget to remove the low point drains and let air blow out of them. Low point means just that, water will settle here.

I use antifreeze pulled through the water pump after the water filter has been removed and the canister put back on.

There are hand pumps that allow you to pump the antifreeze through the city water connections. You have to have someone inside running the taps, toilet, shower etc but it is something that you can do. My Surveyor also tells me to disconnect the pump and run it dry with some towels under it to catch any water that comes out after you pump the antifreeze through the city lines. Running the pump till it is dry saves your check valve through the winter. Don't forget your outside shower too and make sure you by-pass your hot water tank and empty it completely as well.

This is my way of doing it too. Must be a Hoosier thing.

I do the similar process but go from one faucet to another including commode and shower until finally no water comes out of any of them. Then I run some antifreeze (non toxic) through the water pump. Lastly, I open the low point drains to check to make sure that all water is out. Put a cup of the antifreeze into all drains and commode. One for the winter.

Although the Sunline RV Factory is out of business (2007), I had several of their RVs in the past. I lived close to the factory, and they are the ones who told me this process which they recommend.

I don't think that model has an antifreeze intake hose. It would have to be added. I just blow my lines out with air pressure and pour antifreeze in the drains. Bypass water heater, drain it, and empty low point drains of course.
