1/2 ton towing

I pull the same camper with a 2014 F150 with Eco Boost. Added "Supersprings". According to Ford, my truck has a 10,500 lb tow rating. Fully loaded everything weighs 9,820. Have had ZERO problems and get 12 MPG average. Have had lots of people ask how the rig works. I'm very satisfied. Have had bigger campers and bigger trucks, but our current lifestyle seems to work very well with this setup.

Towing with F150

I don't have a problem with sway or feeling loose. My truck was ordered with all the heavy duty stuff and a package that increased the GVWR. It was called the "Texas/Oklahoma Package." It also has the trailer towing package. Also, it is a super crew. I'm about due for tires (42000 miles) and am going to go with higher load ratings but have had no problems with stock tires.

Up until this summer I was towing an 8265ws with a 2008 Silverado half ton. It pulled ok,just didn't like pulling a fifth wheel with a short bed. The tire swap will get rid of that squishy feeling. I now have a one ton GMC Duramax, it's a little overkill but I feel so much safer. I also like the fuel mileage, running between 12 and 14 MPG while towing. I'm sure it would be less towing a larger trailer. But changing your tires will really make it feel better.

I pull a 8524 rls with a half ton 2007 GMC with no problem at all.
Tranny is a 4 speed, so i leave it in 3rd gear rear end is 3.73 and motor is 5.3 lt. Truck is also equipped with towing package. I added 1 leaf spring and have LT tires.
This summer we drove route #2 from Maine true N.H. and Vermont, pretty hilly and curvy. I managed to keep my momentum all the way and had no problems at all.
