2013 MicroLite 23FB roof safe to walk on?

Can anyone tell me if the roof if the 2013 Flagstaff MicroLite 23FB roof is safe to walk on? I want to clean it and check the sealant.

Has anyone installed a ladder on the back?

Yes, you can walk on it...just don't jump around. I considered adding a ladder myself, but decided that it would just be a bunch of extra holes in it to have to watch for leaks. I just use a tall step ladder.

Thanks Raspivey. I'll tread carefully! I know most trailers are built to handle it but I've read that some aren't. I wondered if that may be one of the things they sacrificed for the UltraLite weight reduction.

I had a 25 KS and the manual stated that if there was not a ladder on the trailer to stay off the roof. I cleaned and inspected mine from a step ladder.

Was that for structural reasons or as a safety precaution with regards to accessibility? Just curious as mine doesn't say one way or another. I would think that's how they installed the AC, etc.

Here's what I just found on the FAQ page at http://www.forestriverinc.com/FAQ/de...=rvcustserv#10:

Q-Can I walk on my rubber roof?
The roofs on most Forest River RV units utilize 3/8” wood underpayment and are designed to be walked on by wearing soft sole shoes. Please, always use caution when working on top of any RV.

I guess I should have looked there first!

Weight limit.
My fifth wheel has one, 200lb, @ 205 I pushed the limits to clean off the grime before our first trip.

If the ladder is rated at 200# then I better lose weight .... Or ask DW to go up there to clean the roof.

Adding a ladder is not recommended.

You need to go on the roof to install A/C cover unless you have VERY long arms lol. It should be safe to go the roof with soft soled shoes. I try to avoid going on roof when cleaning (except when adding sealant). Mine is fiberglass and pretty slippery when wet.
X2 on not good idea to add a ladder.

Thanks everyone. I'll wear soft-soled shoes, tread lightly, and use a free-standing ladder.

I washed mine with a long arm wand with a brush head. It attached to a water hose and I was able to clean it well without getting on it. I don't plan to get on my roof unless I absolutely have too. More for my safety rather than the campers.
