2016 Flagstaff 26RBWS - any insights to this new model?
Hi everyone, we've just purchased a Flagstaff 26rbws, sister ship to the Rockwood 2606ws; we haven't yet taken delivery. The dealer told us its a new model for 2017 so we know there aren't that many on the road yet but we're hoping someone here might have one of these models and can share any insights. And one specific question, have there been any concerns with the large front window - it is a beautiful feature - I'm just wondering how it stands up to rocks, road debris, etc.
We'd really appreciate any help or insights. Thanks.

Just bought a flagstaff 26fkws which still has the rock shield on the front. At first I was disappointed as the front window looks awesome on your unit but I did have a rock puncture my aluminum front on my old trailer during transit so now I am indifferent. If it holds up well it sure adds to the beauty. Congrats!

Hi Treble, first congrats on your new 26fkws; thats a beautiful trailer too.
We fell in love with the floor plan for the 26 rbws when we first saw a similar rig about 18 mos ago in a GD. The seating with perfect viewing for the TV stood out - it was, for us, a near perfect couples floorplan thats towable with a half-ton pickup. And now Flagstaff has the same floor plan but with the addition of the wardrobe slide and that incredible, and fingers crossed, hopefully very sturdy, front window - we were sold.
We dont take delivery till May but already have a three week sojurn planned to Lake Superior and Northern Ontario. By the looks of things here, Im not expecting to see to many 26rbws on the road with us - at least not in this first model year

Congrats on the new purchases. I have a new 26RLWS that we picked up in Jan at the rv show.
For PDI make sure your slides go all the way out. Had issues with the closet not making the full extension and cold air pouring in during winter. We would not have noticed if it was not cold. We also had a propane leak at the tree. Ended up being left tank hose so easy fix.
It is heavier than you may think for an ultralite. I tow with F150 and even with the WD hitch it squats quite a bit. I temd to load it up good too. Get some back Timberens for your truck as it is a very easy install and handles much better.
Fasten cabinets shut. First trip home we lost kitchen faucet when pots took it out on a turn. They only fit in high cabinet in ours. You may not have that with your pantry (jealous).
Get the backup camera, worth the investment. There are different options but if not handy the furrion prewired is ok priced and plug and play. Get the observation version for always on and better coverage.
We also replaced the junk analog thermostat on first trip because the trailer got too hot or cold with a 5 degree swing either way.
Love our trailer so far. No major issues and brings us together even if it means napping and movies with rain. Hope you enjoys yours as much. Just looking for more free weekends to take her out.

Dbledan, thanks for those insights - theyre very helpful. We will definitely check each of them. I didn't have to secure cupboards in our last trailer so good to know these may need it - losing your tap must have been a bummer on your first trip. As for the Timbrens, we've actually already ordered them. Rams are notorious for squatting and this trailer is tongue heavy so they will definitely be needed.
With regards to the thermostat, can I ask which brand you went with? Was it a fairly straight forward swap?
Thanks again. This kind of first hand experience and knowledge is invaluable!

Dealer suggested child proof mechanisms on the doors and drawers to prevent them from opening. I think they are pretty snug though but I will be careful about where we place our pots. My Toyota Tundra didn't seem to squat much but I didn't have it loaded up yet with all of our gear. First trip coming soon. Will decide on timbrens next. My wife and I use two way radios and have been doing so for backing into our driveway and the campsites for years and we are still married lol. I am afraid the observation function on the camera will be a distraction while driving so holding off until after the first trip. Thanks for the input.

Faucet was going to happen anyway. Wish we got more use out of it first but oh well. We only lost it because we put a shelf in and the pots slid off the shelf. I use twist ties to secure the few that open now.
I swapped thermostats with the Coleman mach3 digital. It was simple wire for wire swap. I cut from old and spliced in new. $45 on amazon. Just make sure wires don't fall in the wall.
You can use some home ones but they rely on the batteries instead of the trailer wiring (homes use 24v) and you lose the ability to switch the fan between hi and low. Lots of videos on options including adding the fan switch but I don't think we needed programmable and didn't want to be out with dead batteries. If you are willing to chase down some wiring and figure out what is where then go for it. I was just cheap and lazy.
One other thing to do for PDI. Crank up your stabilizers all the way or down until they stop working...it blows a fuse but not sure which one. Make them show you because it will happen. They fixed mine but not sure where the fuse or reset is located yet. When you find it let me know where it is...

This is a really nice trailer. I love the bedroom with the "real" nightstands. That's the one feature I really wanted (instead of wardrobe walls next to my head) and didn't get it. I hope you enjoy your purchase!!!

I was told the fuse on the stabilizers was an automatic reset type. You just wait a few minutes and it should work again. I know very little about electrical. Is this wrong?

dbledan, re the thermostat...found it on Amazon - thanks! As for the stabilizers, I wont have to worry - as you can see, ours are manual - just have to keep the cordless drill charged

Thanks MarinesWife, I really hope you're enjoying your new trailer too! We also liked the bedroom layout, and the seating area/TV and huge pantry...but all things come with a compromise as we are lacking in counter space. Fortunately we rarely use the indoor stove and can utilize the glass cover as a counter extension.

I noticed on the Flagstaff website that models with a front window come with "Automotive Front Windshield."
I would think they would hold up decently, like a windshield should. But with how flat and non-sloped they are they might catch a lot more debris that your TV.

I think the automotive windshield is only provided where required by law when I saw what the *was.
I am not sure if that means laminated glass or they are talking about the cover over the front.
Ours has a large window on the front but did not come with the cover. I don't plan to find out if the glass is laminated but it does not open at all.

Im fairly certain there are clear protective films that can be applied and provide a little extra protection - similar to the film you can get on the leading portion of your TV hood. Ill be looking into and report back.

I am sure even a window tint film would make it better and keep it from shattering everywhere. I would rather have the cover but not sure if it could be added or where to get the part. I checked th FR site and it said only dealers could purchase parts. Never bothered checking CW as they are the only nearby dealer.

dbledan, thanks for your insight on the 26 RLWS. I am looking at this one and love everything except the lack of a pantry. How have you been able to get around that?

I usually only have enough food for arrival and breakfast the next day when we leave to keep light on weight. We put groceries above the sofa once we shop on day 1. Most seem to fit pretty well even when we were gone for a week we had room and we cook for friends too. DW does not like reaching for the higher cabinets in back and above the bed so I store my stuff there. We have pop a plate and bowl under kit hen cabinet.
We also store many of the occasional use items in the bedroom closets. Cleaning items are all in bathroom cabinet.
Additional outdoor cooking items go in the basement.
There is lots of storage and we also added 4 square hangers (walmart) in the closet for more shelf space...who camps and hangs that many cloths.

Hello from MD newbies!
We've been researching (stalking?) RV models on owners' forums and RV shows with the intention of buying in spring of 2018...until we saw the 2017 Flagstaff 26RWBS on a recent trip to visit family in Indiana. Absolutely fell in love with this floor plan and how well it fits the way we live.
We drive to Indianapolis this Thursday to pick it up on Friday just in time for the DH's birthday. So excited and a bit overwhelmed by all the things we have to learn.
I look forward to following this thread and Forum as we dig in to this new adventure!
