2020 BHWS Bike Rack

Good evening. We just bought a 2020 BHWS and I am looking for options for bikes racks. My first thought was to buy a bumper mount for 2 bikes and a tongue mount for two bikes. My wife doesnít want anything obstructing the view out of the front window though. I havenít been able to find a bumper mount one that fits around the spare tire for four bikes. Does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks

Hi Miikiel... I see it is your 1st post... Welcome!

There's been plenty of discussion on bike racks for 4" bumper mounting.

Most all advice is against it.

The newer units have paper thin bumpers and holding the extended weight of bicycles will peel the bumpers off. Especially super/micro lite models.

There are reinforcing brackets available to help but the verdict is still mixed even with those.

I've see frame mount racks for the front (by the hitch/propane tanks) that looks strong but have no experience. There are also options to fabricate something for the rear that connects to the frame.

Do a search and you'll find lots of reading.

Decide for yourself.

my unit camp with a sticker on the bumper reading "not meant for aftermarket additions, voids warranty" wait till your warranty is up, reinforce, and proceed with caution.

2020 Bike Rack

Check out the "Jack It" rack that mounds over the front end crank. We have one and like it.

I can't tell what you've screwed the fork supports into. Can you tell me more.

Don't put anything on a stock bumper. It won't hold. I had beefed up receivers put on my Roo 19 and Mini Lite 2503S. See Post #2 for the Roo and Post #12 for the Mini Lite here:

Installing a hitch on my roo.

Another option is to strengthen the bumper with Safety Struts:

Here's a post about them.

Those are Thule fork blocks/mounts.
These will work and are cheaper than Thules:

Your bike has to have a Quick Release(QR)front wheel.

I sandwiched the flimsy seat board with my own plywood scraps. Couple bolts and nuts...cut flush on the underside.
The drawback is you have to turn the turn the whole thing over to use the seat. Or take the mounts out each time.
