Ahhhh ... the problems we have now with all these slideouts.

Good job fitting the RV between the trees. I take it that there were no other stores available.

We pulled in the evening of July 3rd and the park was sold out for the holiday. The website we use to book our state parks said that site would accommodate a rig our size with slides, but I think that needs to be tweaked a little bit.

Has anyone had their 27RLWS weighed? If so, let me know what your weights were so I have something to compare with.

I just happen to have the scales readout right here on my desk/
6380# on trailer axles, 1,060# increase on rear truck axle.. The notes says=5 gallons water in black tank, grey empty, about 10 gal fresh water. Also have bbq and other things in truck bed and 1/2 tank fuel, I would guess tongue wt to be around 750-800#

Danny did you have the weight from side to side of the trailer? I'm 1400 on both wheels on the right side and 1600/1650 on the left side (kitchen slide side). Strange numbers on the kitchen slide side but finally got the dealer, Forest River Rep and Dexter Axle rep together on the bad axle issue. Axles will be shipped out this week and should be at the dealer next Tuesday. The only one who agreed the axles were the issue of the trailer leaning to the left side was Dexter. Although the dealer said there is a problem with the camper leaning to one side, he said he could not confirm it was an axle issue. That being said, he had not other reason he could come up with as the problem. Forest River tried to remain neutral and said he doesn't under stand why the axles would be bad. He too had no other answer to the problem. Dexter said if the camper leans to the left and there is no frame damage or other mitigating issues, the axles need to be replaced.

Here is the kicker. Dexter will replace the axles at no charge (warrantee). Dealer told me I must pay $312.00 for the labor associated with installing the new axles. The old axles will be shipped back to Dexter for their engineers to analyze. If the axles are found to be defective, Dexter will refund the $312.00 labor costs. If the axles are not found to be defective, we eat the $312.00 labor costs. So I said to go ahead with the replacement of the axles and would argue the labor costs after the fact. Either way we get two new axles for $312.00.

I can see no other reason for the camper to lean to the left side. The camper weight is 900 pounds below the GVWR at 6650# so there is no other option available. Let's see what happens.

No side x side weight. Mine does sit level but i'm concerned about6380# on only 7000# of axles; that is only 310# of 'cushion' or extra capacity on the axles but even worst is only 155# from max load per tire. The 6380 is loaded for camping, actually this was the weight on the trip back home. I personally think the cutting it too close for comport for me.
And the Kumho 857 LRD tires are impossible to find

I'm not an engineer, but the 1600 - 1650 weights on the left side with the axles so close together seems to tell me one axle is supporting more weight than the other. There is nothing stored on that slide side and basically has what was built into the camper.

Yes I too pondered that same issue. Wayne explained that very issue earlier on. Although the axles are 3500 each or a total of 7,000#, the tongue weight is considered in there too. Not all the total weight is on the axles but shared with the tow vehicle. So, it's not all on the axles nor on the TT tires. These manufactures leave little room for error. "C" rated tires at 1760# max load (7,040#). Our TT weight is 6650 including a 600# tongue weight. So we are basically running 14" tires real close to limits at less than 65 mph.

Dexter Axle Update:
The dealer received the two brand spanking new axles for our TT. Small problem in shipping though. FedEx delivered the pallet with the two axles and one of the brake plates was bent all to hell. The guys in the shop said it would not be a problem to replace it but there is my luck again. Then we all stared at the TT and tried to offer options on lifting the TT up so the axles could be r & r'd. The mechanic had to call FR to get their ideas. There is little if any room on the frame around the axles. The remaining frame is covered so that seemed out. I offered my two cents like a 2"X2" square tube to place over the two sides and lift it.
As I drove off, the folks were still pondering just how to raise the TT enough to remove and replace the axles.
I'm concerned!

At this point I'd take the axles and trailer somewhere else!

Well I received a call today they have got the axles on the TT. The lean was corrected with the new axles and there is a 3 1/4" fender well clearance on the right side and a 3" on the left side. I guess I was correct in saying the axles were soft on the left side. Now let's see what Dexter engineers have to say when they analyze the old axles.

I would be afraid they would fold the TT in half when they lifted it. Seems there is not a lot of room to jack these TT up. Hope I never get a flat.

Yahoooo! Glad to hear the good news. I must say that you have had a good experience with the dealer and with the axle manufacturer who seemed set on doing the right thing.

My RV is in the dealership presently getting the oven fixed - again, this time Suburban sent the manifold and the pilot assembly - and my cupboard door installed (not warranty). If/when I get this stove fixed I will be very happy and I would be able to say that finally the trailer is trouble free (replacement radio still works).

It's seems I have had a great relationship with the dealer, Dexter and Forest River to get this corrected. As with everything, patience is what it takes. I certainly can not see how people trade their TTs very often as it takes time to actually get one working perfectly. Once that's accomplished, you just set back and enjoy it for many years. Good much with everything on yours Wayne. You certainly have been patient enough.

Thanks Chuck. Fingers crossed I get the oven fixed this week. I must say that the Atwood stove in my old Jayco never gave me a moment of grief. AAMOF nothing in that trailer failed and it never had one repair in the 3 years I owned it. I cannot say anything positive about these Suburban stoves.

I upgraded to 10 ply tires on both the truck and trailer when the time came to replace them. Truck because they were worn, trailer because FR put the basic minimum tire you could put on my size trailer.

I have been researching tires for this 27RLWS and can't find one that would really fit. These axles and tires are a tight fit in there and bigger profile tires just can't happen.

Chuck - check these sizes out. Can't remember what the size of our tires are or the distance in between, but as far as I can tell there are several here that might work. Look at the loaded radii. No need to get ones that total way above the axle rating (3500#).
