Picked up the TT today and it's great. No more lean and seems a tad higher than the right side. It was so good stopped by the CG and booked a night to check it out good. Backed it in and didn't have to level it. Shower didn't leak (yet). One small thing though...someone glommed our tv remote while at the dealership. Picked up a brand new one on eBay for $8.00 with free shipping. So I wasn't going to call them and make accusations.

We traded in our 2013 Silverado 1500 yesterday for a 2014 RAM 2500 with the 6.4L HEMI.

Haven't towed with it yet but we have three nights scheduled at a state park next weekend so we'll see how it goes. The Silverado was capable and actually towed this trailer better than I expected, but I'm sure I'll notice a difference.

I am sure that there would be a difference between your LT Silverado and the HD Ram since torque is what matters when it comes to towing and even the 6.4L Hemi puts out more (almost 100 lb.ft) than the 5.3L Vortec.

But I am just curious - why buy a Ram when there is the new body style Silverado with both the 6.0L gas and the 6.6L diesel engines?

We did consider the Chevy but the 6.0 just doesn't seem to measure up anymore and we didn't want or need a diesel. I believe GM has a bigger V8 in the works for the HD trucks. I think I heard 2016?

Didn't consider Ford.

I actually like the last GM body style (the one you have and we had) a little better than the new style, but that wouldn't keep me from buying one. RAM seems, to me at least, to be ahead of GM and Ford with the interiors.

I liked the Silverado and would certainly consider another GM truck in the future.

Upgraded the 32" Toshiba TV to a 40" Vizio Smart TV today

SO we were in Sam's Club yesterday and I saw what appeared to be a decent 40" Smart TV by Vizio. Since we needed to replace an ancient CRT TV in one of the bedrooms in the house we decided to get the Vizio E400i-B2 TV. Here are some pics:

While it says it is slightly over 15# the Toshiba was even lighter, and I hope this Vizio does not shake itself loose down the road.

27RLWS

I would imagine you will be building something to support this new tube. I like it. I'm not too sure there is enough meat on the tv backer to hold much more than the Toshiba. An aluminum "L" plate that screws to the wall and cabinet top would give some good support. Screw the tv bracket to the aluminum plate. Just a thought.

Its a good thought ... I had it too.

The Toshiba is about 10# and the new TV would create greater inertial loading on the articulating mount and hence the wall. However, I think that it would be okay clipped back in the travel position. But as an added precaution I will probably support the bottom edge of the TV to stop at least downward flexing. My main concern is the back the TV where the bracket screwed on as I suspect that it might be not as sturdy as I would like. I will let you know what I decide, but I do like the TV.

I stuff the cheep pillow that came on the bed behind the TV and stuff the 2 couch pillows under it so it doesn't wiggle around much when traveling.

I was thinking of some sort of cushion under the bottom edge of the V which is now closer to the top of the cabinet. We have some foam lying around somewhere and will probably use a piece of that to do the job.

I would think that a pillow behind the TV would tend to push it of the clipped position ....?

Todays mods:

Fastway Flip - came off my previous RV but I took one year to put it on this RV!

Fridge fans wired to the light. Did not have my wire cutter-stripper with me so there is a lot of excess wire there. The install has about 10 more minutes next time I visit the RV.

I noticed the cap on your 7 pin connector. Is that stock or aftermarket? Where did you get the fan unit?

Thanks!

Fastway products are excellent - I always keep a lookout for their accessories, and the 7-pin plug cap is one of them.

The Fridge evaporator fan can be had on eBay - here is one sale active now.

The assembly is supposed to hold on to / hang off of the evaporator fins with the alligator clip. Nonsense. I epoxied 4 tiny binder clips on the unit and (although one fell off) they fixt the unit to the fins nice and firmly.

Thanks. I've seen the flip foot but never the plug cover.

I also have the ball cover and breakaway cable. I do have the Chain Up but actually my chains are too short, I think.

A few Mods

Well I finally got around to showing these...been spending too much time camping, playing bluegrass, riding my horses, and enjoying my first full year of retirement...

Now I know many of you have solved the toilet paper holder problem, and frankly my solution was suggested by other posters. I did want to mount the holder and the towel rack, and have them look reasonably attractive and factory. I am posting these for any new buyers or anyone who hasn't figured these out yet.

I was wandering through Home Depot trying to come up with a material to mount these items, wood or whatever, when I spied the PVC siding section. I bought an 8' length of white PVC trim material. Cost was about $13 Cdn. I guess it would be used around windows and doors to finish off an edge. It's about 3/4" x 4 ". It cut very easily with my radial arm saw. I predrilled the holes and then took my angle grinder to shorten the screws so they wouldn't protrude through the back. I fastened them with the 3M black two sided tape used to attach outdoor mailboxes to wood or brick..Click image for larger version

I also took a couple of pieces of wood, a 2 x 4 and a 1 x 4 would be perfect, and carpeted them all around so the grandkids would stop slamming the bathroom door into the tub surround. Works perfect.Click image for larger version

The final thing is the ottomans we found at Walmart. They fold and two can be easily stored under the dinette while travelling. When put together the can provide some additional storage for magazines, coloring books, video games etc.

For some reason I am unable to post pics of the ottomans. Net must be too slow this aft.

Check out the Big Joe chair at Walmart for less than $30.00. Lightweight and inexpensive and fit perfectly at the end of the counter on the 27rlws or Rockwood 2703ws we have on order.

To prevent the bathroom door from hitting the shower corner, we purchase at Walmart for a couple of dollars, a white rubber half circle that back peels off and you usually stick to wall behing door knob. Works great as stopper for shower. Found in section where door stoppers are.

I have one for the kitchen/garage door at the house. Never thought about that for the TT. Great idea.

Thanks to Sharon's great tip I got one from Walmart and installed it just in time for our daughter / granddaughter's visit. The only "problem" is that because of its thickness it reduces the swing of the door a little. I may cut it down one of these days.
