As I predicted yours world work fire. I am glad for you of course. Just goes to show the level of quality control that goes into RV appliances - some work fine and some don't.

Okay picked up the new rig yesterday. Seems the punch out guy had the day off and another mechanic filled in. Few minor issues on the walk-through. The first thing to go was the "O" shaped towel hook. Screws stripped out from everyone pulling on it. Inside water heater access panel doors had been bent from someone trying to open them. Was supposed to be weatherized (wasn't) and when we sit weatherize it, discovered the kitchen faucet was cracked (replaced). I loved the quality control of Forest River and their hose and wire control. Seems whom ever goes first, the other deems it necessary to wrap the others wires/hoses. Pretty standard on a rigs I guess. Checked the roof (good) checked all around and pulled her home. Got home and found the mechanic had somehow put the breakaway brake cable in such a manner the cut the cable clean (need a new one). Got in it last night and fired up the heater and began cleaning. Removed the hinges that lock the panel doors from opening and replaced them with magnetic cabinet locks. I did the same on the side cabinets where the gas goes to the outside. Now I can see if water gets in there Can open them if needed but stay tightly in place.
Everything worked as it was supposed too. Interesting enough I asked about the oven pilot light issue. The clue was the free long lighter. Mechanic said Suburban ovens pilot light doesn't stay on after using the oven as. Safety feature (hum). So he says you have to light the pilot light every time before using the oven (again...hum?). Today air bed is coming out along with the 250 lbs (exaggeration) rock counter extension. Don't need either of them.
Radio and TV worked good (today anyways)band will see how long the radio keeps working.
All in all it was a god experience. Few issues at the dealer got rectified right away. They made good with several items I wanted to buy thrown in on the deal. Free is good! I love how they say they provide everything you will need to go right out camping. They do but don't go right out. Take it home and go through it with a fine tooth comb. Take the heavy non needed stuff out and fill it with the heavy non need stuff you like better (lol).

I find a few light weight ottomans will be required for the sofa. Really no way to put your feet up unless you want lay out in bed.

That sounds fine but I wonder what he'd say to the pilot going off while cooking.

I brought it to his attention and told him this is absolutely dangerous to play with propane. I haven't use it yet as it's still winterized but I plan on calling the owner on Tuesday to get his opinion. Pilot lights are just that but when they go out, I sure don't want to be laying in the grass down the street wondering what in the hell happened.
I'm going to try it right now. Sitting in the RV watching the football game. The DW is having one of those cleaning binges a I don want to get all caught up with that. Absence is a good thing.

Okay pilot light stayed on but the smoke detector went off. Whewwwww burning off that new stuff bites. DW was in a panic as she came out thinking it was on fire. Okay...smoke detector works. Oven works. Exhaust fan on the range works.

I had the same truck pulling the same weight and it was always a white knuckle drive. I traded it in on a 2011 Dodge Ram 1500 that had a tow rating of 10K. It was a joke, the coil springs in the rear were weak as hell. That truck couldn't pull 10,000 pounds on a bet. It had electrical problems which they claimed was caused by my towing. It finally caught on fire (electrical fire) and I bought a Ford F-350. I am now like dannyabear - worryfree towing and no more white knuckles. You can tow with your 1500 but you'll be very glad everytime you arrive at your destination in one piece.

My tow rating is 8550 on that Hemi. Although a truck is rated for 8550 and pulling roughly somewhere just short of 7,000. I would say that 8600 lbs would be a trip to the dealership every time. I
The RV pulled fine and we don't plan on heading for Yellowstone park. We happen to live in the heartland of camping. Getting from here to there isn't an issue as it pulls my rig considerably well. We would all love to have that 3500 diesel but for now, my trusty old bugger will do it. Perhaps when I retire again, I will start looking at a 2500/3500 so we can make those huge trips. I have about another 3 years to go for a second pension.

I hear you. Worked my ace for the first. Cruising for the second but I will see how long I want to hang in there. The ol' Dodge runs great though. Had Fords all my life but the local dealer here bends people over the table for service. Thus...no more Fords. On the other hand the local Dodge dealer (Rocky Top Dodge) bends over backwards to help you with all our service needs. The dealership won me from Fords to Dodge. Although...not a big Cummins fan or Fords 6.0 diesel failure.

We have the Rockwood version of your trailer and we absolutely love it.

We camp a lot with family members who have their own rigs (a Class A DP, a Class C, and an Aliner) and the crowd usually ends up in and around our trailer.

We also tow with a 1/2 ton (Silverado) and it does OK. Not great, but it gets the job done for now. The next setup will be a 3500 and a fiver bunkhouse but that is several years down the road.

A trip down your way is coming in May. Three weeks in the Knoxville/GSMNP area.

I agree with gets the job done but not great. There is no white knuckle ride but I have been looking at 2500/3500 trucks but WOW the prices are crazy. Love my paid off Dodge.

Small rectangular can fits in front of sink, if turned the right way it still fits when kitchen slide comes in; sometimes its gets moved to the end of the counter where the extention goes

Congratulations on your great choice!

The place we keep our garbage can is at the end of the counter, under where the extension would be, with the pedal facing the fridge for easy access to the food preparer. The one we have is a Better Homes and Gardens rectangular step-on can from Walmart

When the slides are in, this fits neatly in front of the sink with space to spare.
