Hmmmm ... never thought that they were decorative. Mine appears to be in contact with the ground but to be honest I never looked at it closely as I have had no problems with the sofa bed. Now it is in the shop so I can't even go and check.

One thing I need to modify is the drawer under the sofa bed which likes to open when we are underway.

We had similar issues with the drawer under the dinette seating. I found loose screws and corrected the problem by replacing them.

When backing our 27rlws we noticed the front tire was not vertically lined up with the rear tire and rim. It seemed to be slanted in at the top. It was backed up on a asphalt driveway, so a level surface. When placing an automotive jack under the axel and raising the trailer, the rim and tire seemed to straighten and sit straight vertically. Is this normal or is there a problem with the Torflex independent suspension ?

I noticed that once when I was at Camping World on pavement - in my case the driver's side trailing tire seemed to have some negative camber compared with the front. I figured there must have been a local high spot under that tire.

After pulling the RV to the storage lot and parking it on earth the wheels were both vertical, while I know the earth underneath is not flat. I have not given it another thought since till now. Will look again when next I see the RV.

I had the same thing happen when I backed into the driveway and basically had to jackknife it to line it up correctly. Because it has a tandem axle. Sharp turns cause one of the axles to twist. I found an easy solution when backing my trailer into the driveway. Get some sand from Lowes of Home Depot and put down a thin layer where your wheels will travel. The trailer tires will not grip the surface and slip rather than bind. Worked very well backing and pulling it out. If the tires bind like that, don't let them stay in that position. If you can, pull forward to relieve the tension as you did. Try the sand. It works good.

I don't think the sofa is an issue on this model. It's probably the installers bad day. Wmoses when you look at the bottom of the sofa where it sits on the slide, the rear feet were removed to screw it down to the slide. The front of the sofa hangs over the slide so they left the front feet on to give that look. I imagine the installer has so little time to instal the sofa on the line that he slams it on and screws it down with no real sense of personal pride. Something American has lost in some areas. They don't build them as their own any more. If you think so, check out how they wired the TT. Wires everywhere and around everything. Not a clean job. I removed all the wires at the front of the TT and put split loom over them to protect them from sunlight and getting caught up on things we may run over.

Chuck - I agree on the sofa issue and will certainly look closely at mine if nothing else just to tighten everything up, but aside from that it works perfectly.

Agree with you on the slap-dash way these things are put together -- especially behind panels and in hidden areas you don't normally look at. Saw the wiring behind the breaker panel / hall cupboard area and it is a rats nest. I like your split loom under the RV. Will do that when I finish off routing my Flojet 12V power wire from battery to sewer outlet area.

27RLWS

I forgot to mention the wires above the hitch side of the awning are exposed as well. I have some small split loom to cover those as well. The UV fades the wires and they eventually crack. I'm a big proponent for keeping as much out of the sun as possible.

Split loom sound like a good idea for awning wires. Backing up in my drive is a tight turn made tougher with primetime easy tow wide spread axles. I have to backup perfect to make the turn into the drive.
I will be trying the sand for sure.

That's tight. There is a row of trees across the street with no room to back it up other than to jackknife it at the last second. The sand makes a huge difference.

Your driveway is about the same length as mine only flatter - I have more slope and also I have a lip at the end of the driveway at the street so putting down the tongue jack is not a good idea since it will be seeing a bending moment. Besides getting the trailer unhitched would be a chore as well - probably impossible, based on my experience when I had my HTT.

On the other hand were I to back in I would probably be better off than you as I am on a cul-de sac but even that might be an issue since the radius is pretty tight.

I too live on a cul-de sac. It's always better to drive past and back on the drivers side. It was a beast unhooking as I was at a 90 degree angle. I pull out the other direction. Just don't hook up the bars.

I too have used split loom on all my exposed wiring. I was not impressed with how some of it was ran. I guess I'm just an anal person...BTW there is also an exposed wire on the left side of the couch I added split loom to, besides the wires that go down from the television...

Do you have the slide wires that run next to the sofa slide and the wardrobe slide. I have both wires exposed (somewhat) and was wondering if that's normal.
The tv wires were the first to get split loomed. Can't believe Forest River couldn't think of that too.

I removed the front hitch wires and laid them in the cut out in the battery rail with the split loom. When I picked the TT up they were hanging down. Took about 20 minutes to do (in the cold).

One of the first things I did when I got the unit home. I could not stand battery wires hanging everywhere...I will have to look if they show at the wardrobe slide but they did for the couch / fridge slide. I do not like how that is. I also put a wire loom holder on that one and screwed it to thew wall.

Had to push the TT back a little more than usual to get the slide off the patio. The power service was closer to the curb so I'm glad I had a longer power cord. When we were leaving another 27rlws pulled in. Seems to be a popular model.
You will need the (Long ext.Power cord and Extra water hose) if going to Cherry Hill in DC also. I see you would need LONG sewer hose at that campsite also for extened stay. Our unit (power & water) is in the street side rear,I see you water is forward and power rear. Youroo!! Hey you were there long enough for the Trees to bloom!
