I was planning to do some cold weather camping and checked to see how my furnace was working. I have not had to use it since I bought the trailer (little over 1 year). It would run for 30 seconds and stop
. Researching the problem said it would be the sail switch. So I decided to check it and see what was going on. I opened the panel and saw there was no space between the back of the furnace and wall, so I could not get a mirror or other device to see the sail switch. So I took the wall under the sink apart and pulled the furnace out to see if I could get a better view. Looked like I would need to take the walls apart to get full access to the back if the furnace. So I turned on the furnace and it worked correctly.
So after several successful firings and I decided to put things back together but I left a little over 1/2 inch between the back of the furnace and the wall (looking at the manual for the Suburban furnace it looks like there should have been a spacer). After 3 weeks and 1 weekend camping in cold weather, my furnace has worked everytime.
. Looks like it would be a pain to do any real maintenance on the furnace since there is no access door through the outside of the trailer to the back of the furnace.
