Anyone running Timbrens?

We have a 8529IKBS on order that has a 1600 pound hitch weight (empty). Been wondering if some Timbrens might be a good idea for our 2018 Ram 2500. Anyone running these? Thoughts?

I have run them for the last 4 years. They are effortless and do not change the ride when you are not towing.

How do you like the way it handles when the truck is 'on' the Timbrens (trailer on the truck)?

The ride improved while towing. It took any sag out of the set up. We have pulled this combo around 15K miles since the timbren were installed. I do like the set up.

I also have Timbrens on my 2012 Ram 2500. My trailer tongue weight is 1500 and they help a lot with porpoising when on rough roads. Very easy to install and unlikely to ever fail.

I’ve made one trip since installing. I notice the same, mainly on Interstates where the rough transitions exist between bridges and roadways. We had a 2” hitch prior to going to 2 1/2” that showed signs of excessive movement where the paint actually came off the hitch near the receiver. I expect the 2 1/2” hitch with Timbrens will prevent the same stress on the hitch due to porpoising.

We have them on a 2005 F150, towing a 5er. They are great at preventing sag and keeping a level ride. They can be a little rough if you don’t set the spacing up correct to begin with.

We have a 8529IKBS.
I towed it with my F-150 for a year knowing we were getting a F-250.
I had Timbrens on the F-150 and it did fine.
I don't have them on the 250 as it doesn't touch the overload springs when hitched.

I've had them on my truck for 4 years now and it also improves on eliminating tt sway. Love them. Later RJD

I also have them on my F-250. They took some of the sag out of my truck when towing my fifth wheel. They really soften the ride when hitting a bit bump in the road. I love them.

We run them on our 17 Ram Copperhead. Made a huge difference helping level the rig. When loaded and riding on the timbrens the ride is noticeably firmer - youll feel it going over bumps. Unloaded they have no effect on the ride. I’d buy them again for towing in a heartbeat.

Had mine for about 10 years. Lifetime warranty and work great, no maintenance. It is the only way I would go. I put them on for a slide in camper but really love them for any load. 2003 2500hd duramax.

I am upgrading my rig from a bumper pull TT to a 5er.
I have a 2016 F250 CC Lariat 6.2L 3.73. I was considering purchasing an air ride system.
Are Timberens just as good?

Depends on the pin weight of your trailer. My pin weight is right under 2k pounds dry weight. I went with the timbrens over the airbags with my f-250 bc of the price and simplicity of them. My truck still sags a little in the rear but not near as bad as before and my truck has the camper package. Much more comfortable ride towing. I love how they are passive too when not towing.

My truck drops about 3 inches with my fiver. I have been thinking about the Timbrens instead of airbags. This thread makes me lean towards them even more.

I have added air bags to several trucks over the years with what I would call 'limited' results. That is why I'm considering the Timbrens this go round. Seems they might give me more of what I'm after without the 'hassle' of the bags.

I tow a 2504s with a2014 1/2 Silverado. I do not use a WDH of any kind. I put on 8600 pound timbrens and the ride was too harsh when loaded. Called support and they sent me 5400 pound models. I tried to pay or at least send back the ones that I had. They said “no way” and just sent the new ones. Put them on. Perfect! The truck rides EXACTLY the same with or without the trailer. Jay

I have them on my F150. I had a lot of sag and bad bouncing before the install. Now I have no issues and the ride is level now. The wdh would only recover so much before I was putting too much weight on the front wheels. I went with them over airbags because of easy install and slightly lower cost.

The only time I feel them on the daily drive is when hitting a speed bump. There is bit more of a kick depending on how fast you hit them.😁

The drive with the trailer is better I think. I feel more bumps but much easier to control at bridge transitions.

I had the same issue. Installed Timbrens a couple thousand miles ago and the sag is gone. So is the porposing. My pin weight is nearb3k lbs. Should have done it long ago.

I chose the passive Timbrens over airbags for two reasons:

1-Efficiency: I needed a tool to do a job not another thing to constantly setup/change on my rig.

2-Reliability. Several posters noted issues w/airbag failures. I have noticed one of the major airbag brands now includes an internal jounce bumper to prevent frame damage in the event the bag fails. I don't want to have to deal with that while on the road. I need the tool to do it's job and Timbrens does that for me.
