Back up Camera?

Hello all I have a new 2015 8528RKWS 5th wheel with what looks like a backup camera. Can anyone shed some light on this option? dealer did not know it was even there. I can also add I have not asked dealer to find out for me sometimes you can get answers quicker on these forums.
Thanks

I picked up a Furrion backup camera at the FROG rally this week. The housing for the camera to be mounted in looks just like that, if you remove the plate on the underside, hopefully the 12 vdc power will be there. If so you need to get the wireless camera and monitor.

Model number for the camera I got is a FRC12TA-BL kit. Has a wireless camera that is supposed to be good for a hundred feet. The other end is a small monitor screen that plugs into the lighter outlet in the cab,

Thanks I did take cover plate off and the power wire is there. I live in Ontario having hard time finding where to buy the kit you mentioned.

You can order directly from furrion.com for $399. I purchased mine from Cedar Creek when my 5th wheel was built for $275. There may be other online dealers that sell cheaper than Furrion.

I am at the FROG rally in Goshen, IN. Toured the Flagstaff/Rockwood plant and saw that Forest River is installing the camera mount and prewiring it on many of the 2015 Rockwoods and Flagstaff products. At the rally they had 70 or so Forest River products on display. On the Berkshire coaches, they are using the same setup, in fact the coaches had the camera installed!
I am wondering if the cameras are not part of the optional packages and are shipped loose like the tvs. When I picked up my Flagstaff, the tv was inside, uninstalled in the box. The dealer installed it when I picked up the unit. Back to the original question, I would press the dealer to provide the camera for you. Since you have the bracket mounted and wiring installed, installation should be quick and simple.

Anyone who installs one of these please note the manual you receive may tell you to pair the camera by having transmission in reverse with the ignition on. The mount is wired into the clearance lights so all you need to do is turn on your parking lights to provide power to the camera. Mine was already paired to the monitor so that is all I needed to do. Furrion is working on an addendum to the manual explaining this.

Is this camera a rearview camera, a backup camera, or both?

Flagstaff camera mount

Camera transmits a wireless signal when the the running lights are on.
If running lights are on and you are backin up, guess that makes it a backup camera! On the flip side, if the running lights are on and you are going down the road, camera is showing you what is behind you.

It is designed as a backup camera but side it is powered by the parking lights it could be used as a rear view camera

Has anyone found a Furrion back up system for less than the $399.00 advertised?

Have only seen them at manufacturer web site. They were being sold at the FROG rally for $299 at at rally discount. One post stated he bought his when he picked up rv at dealer at a better price. Just a thought, not sure where you are located.

Thanks so much for your post. I just wonder IF the Furrion is that much better quality than the many others I see on line to justify the price. It might just be that they made a deal with Forest River to install the wiring and outside/rear housing for THEIR camera and then basically have a "captive" clientelle and can charge an inflated price...just wondering...Anyway, maybe my dealer can get me a better price.

My experience with installing the Garmin BC-20 (and RV-760LMT GPS) are in this thread.

Camera for 2015 Windjammer

We just purchased a 2015 Windjammer. We see that is wired for a camera in the back. What camera works best? Is it wireless and will it work with our Good Sam RVND 7720 GPS? New to this forum so hopefully my post will work. We appreciate any feedback . Thank you, Cyndi and Jerry

We have the furrion camera on our 2015 8528ikws and it is junk it freezes and will not keep a signal. We had it replaced by furrion under warranty and the new one is the same.

Thanks for answering me. I guess I'll try and stay away from the Furrion camera.
