Battery Disconnect

Hey Folks,

Does anyone know of a battery disconnect switch on Flagstaff TTs. We have a 2010 KRSS and our battery keeps draining. I think it is from the Carbon Monoxide detector. I cannot find a switch and I do not see one in the operators manual. I am getting ready to buy a disconnect switch to hopefully solve the problem. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Typically trailers don't have them. I don't know why but most of the TT and 5er owners here install disconnects themselves.

As NWJ stated, they don't come with a battery disconnect switch, unless you purchase a Ultra High End model Fifth Wheel.

Do a search here for "Battery Disconnect". You should fine a few post on the subject.

Many folks install their own and it's a pity the industry does not
include them in new RVs!!
Here is one that's got free shipping on Amazon--

I have this one Amazon.com: 9003e e-Series Battery Switch Single Circuit ON/OFF: Sports & Outdoors

and they also have one for 1, 2 or both batteries for a few bucks
more.

Just search Amazon for battery switch.
And you are correct, if you don't disconnect the batteries they
will run down in a few weeks and that's bad for you and them.
Lead acid batteries do NOT like to be run down flat.
In fact, they will last the longest if kept fully charged.
I use a battery tender to do that.

A little bit of a thread hijack...I was looking at the nice mod pictures, and I noticed something on the picture of the flag pole holder. I was told by the FR Rockwood warranty department that simply having the 2" hitch receiver bolted to your TT bumper voids your factory structural warranty. It doesn't matter what it is used for. In my case, I use one for a closeline. I was given major attitude when mine went to the factory for delam repairs. Just thought I would let folks know.

I mounted mine on the A frame between the batterry box & the front of the TT.

Some folks put them near the front of the RV near the batteries.
I put mine in the toe kick area down next to the floor right next
to my power center. It's a short run for the wires that way.
Some RVs have the LP gas detector wired directly to the battery.
If you have one of those, the switch needs to be at the battery.

NOTE-- I am NOT telling you to disconnect YOUR LP detector.
I know those things will run down your battery.
I know disconnecting the detector will save your battery.
If you disconnect yours, be SURE your LP tanks are off at any
time the gas detector is shut off.

We have a wingnut on one of the terminals ... part of my shutdown procedure is to spin the wingnut off & disconnect the battery.
My next act is to attach the "battery maintainer" solar cell to the now-isolated battery to keep it up.
