Bike rack on spare tire or bumper for Tent Trailer

We would like to carry two bikes on our tent trailer. We are concerned about the additional weight and we want something pretty solid for rough roads.

We are looking for advice on what kind of a bike rack to install. Also, whether it is ok to hang a bike rack off the rear bumper or the spare tire.

If you do a search on here for "bike rack" you will find plenty of information. Generally, the bumper on a travel trailer is not made for adding a bike rack. In fact, I was told by Forest River merely attaching anything like a bike rack to the bumper voids the factory warranty. You can have supports welded to your frame in order to add a bike rack. Some have opted for bike racks that mount to the front or the roof of the tow vehicle.

A search on the forum will provide suggestions, photos, and some do's and don'ts.

Good luck.

When we had a pop up we used one similar to this; Swagman 80550 Pop-Up RAC#

there are a number of brands out there, but it worked real well, we carried 4 bikes in one. Also we had one that straped to the sides, some attach and stay on we did not want that version but you may. Little bit of a pain setting up each time but very sturdy.

good luck.

Here's another option...kinda "spendy", but eliminates the need to remove/store a rack...

Amazon.com: ProRac RVPB-020-1 2-Bike Carrier Tent Trailer Bike Rack: Automotive
