brake shoes, and nipples

hi all , first post , am visiting canada and using my father in laws 5th wheel (8524 ress) , i have a question about the brakes , whose brakes are they ? ie what manufacture? ... like is there a generic hub used ? also there appears to be no grease nipple (zerk fitting) this camper came with no instruction manual , they bought it in 2007 , it is a 2005 camper ... is there a maintenence schedule for these things , ie , repack wheel grease , or replace brake shoes .etc .... i will search the forum as best as i can ...
cheers for any help ..

The zerk fitting is for ez-lube type bearings. In these wheel bearing grease is injected via the zerk and travels to the back of the hub then back through the bearings to lube them. There are those that use these and those that do not ( I will not take sides here). If you have no history of regular maintenance and you are concerned about shoe wear, I suggest pulling the wheels checking /replacing the shoes and checking/repacking bearings the old fashioned way.
