Buying a TT in a couple of months

I have a 1500 avalanche Z71 4X4 with the 5.3 and 4.10:1 rear drive. If I purchase a TT that the GVWR is 7,683 lbs and my truck tow limit is about 7,900 lbs. With almost maxing out my wieght what kind of things should I worry about and what could I exspect in preformance ?

it depends on the CCC of the trailer. some trailers have huge CCCs that most will never come close to.
so, what trailer is it and do you know its actual weight from the factory, not the fictional "dry" weight.
that weight will be on a yellow sticker on the outside of the trailer. it will include the weight of "options".

You will be pushing the limits of the AV with that much trailer. Load your car up and get to the scales. Then using that number look up your AV's GVWR numbers. Subtract b from a and you will have a pretty close guess as to your maximum trailer towing capacity.

I'm looking to purchase either a 2904SS GVWR 7,683 with a CCC weight of 1,756 or SP-293 GVWR 7,564 with a CCC weight of 2,485. I know that I should play it safe and purchase the SP-293, but I guess I am wondering if the GVWR's are around the same. Then the 2904SS has the exact floor plan that I am looking for. I live in the northwest and anywhere out of here I have massive passes.

That 2904 is a lot of trailer for your truck, especially if you are in the mountains. The 4.10 gears will help a bit with pulling, but handling and stopping might not be much fun.

i have an '07 Avy with the 3.73 rear end and there's NO way i'd pull a 33'+ TT with it and i live out West.
i pull a 24' HTT that weighs about 5000lbs. loaded thru the Sierras, Cascades and Siskiyous and i wouldn't want to pull anything much bigger or heavier.

you'll hate pulling a TT at your max through the mountains.
IMHO, you're looking at too much trailer for out here. maybe if you lived in Florida.

Thanks for the thoughts everyone. I might start looking at the idea of trading my 1500 Avy for a 2500 Avy with the 8.1, I do like the Avy trucks. I have had mine 6 years and its been really good to me. Been accross country 4 times and with a big family, its a great ride.

As far as the TT I think I'll consider the 2904 and test it out on the 1500 Avy for the next year, I'm only planning on camping less then a 100 miles from my home. Not much hills to climb. I guess I would rather have something thats ideal for the family then regret and wish I had done it different.
