Camping in freezing temperatures

I am new to camping with a travel trailer and didn't think to buy a camper with heated tanks etc.

So my question is what if anything can be done to make my Microlite 21FB suitable for freezing temperatures? I look under the trailer and all the pipes and tanks are exposed so I have feeling not much can be done. Heated tanks alone doesn't look like it would be enough.

Right now the trailer is all buttoned up for the winter... I hate that we can't use it for 3 or 4 months...

It all depends where you want to use it. Out trailer also has unheated tanks. Our water hose is wrapped with insulation and heat tape. Skirting around the waste tanks with a 40 watt light bulb works. Add antifreeze to holding tanks when weather get too cold.

I just purchased some beTing pads and tape for my trailer. One for each tank. They are self adhesive and just need to be wired up.

In my mine when i go camping or Rving i like the out doors with reasonable temps not freezing cold. In most cases camper are made for those kinds of temps, that's one reason why people head South.
You can buy a camper set up for cold weather camping but they cost more money, like the "Artic Fox" as an examble. to buy a standard camper and make it into an up grade may not be worth it. Cool days and nights is one thing but constent cold weather is another. I am getting old and i like heat in the Winter and more space then a camper has to offer if i am stuck inside, but that's just me......

You can always go dry camping.
Depending on the weather (some of our winters are
bad and some are mild) we might go out for a long
weekend in Jan or Feb.
If our schedule permits and we get one of those balmy
weekend forecasts with highs in 40s or 50s and some
chance of sun we have been known to hitch up and head
out any time.
We often go to Hooser national forest in southern IN.
They had no hookups but now have electrified 2
of the camp grounds. We haul drinking water in a blue
tote jug.
We plan meals so there is minimal dish washing.
Paper and plastic are often used on these trips.
They have modern vault toilets.
Nothing like sitting on a 30 deg toilet seat first thing
in the morning to wake you right up!
They also have a frost proof spigot so we can refill the
blue tote if necessary.
(I have been known to dump a bucket of dishwater
down the vault toilet but please don't tell on me......)
Really.
It's CAMPING. The camp ground can be VERY quiet in
the winter. Day hikes on deserted trails are almost a
spiritual thing for us.

Get an electric heater to save LP.
Use flannel sheets (We use these at home and on those
occasional winter outings.)
Use a down comforter on the bed or an opened down
sleeping bag for a comforter.

We take off the morning chill by lighting the furnace
if necessary. We rarely use our oven but biscuits and
gravy and coffee can really warm you and the inside
of your trailer first thing in the morning.

If the weather is right (doesn't happen every year) we
bug out once or twice in winter.
Give it a try!
