Question Concertone SW-BOX4 sub-woofer problem

On a recent camping trip in our Flagstaff travel trailer, the sub-woofer started making a loud buzzing noise. I disconnected it from the ZX400 unit and the noise went away. Does anyone know why two sets of wires go to the sub-woofer from the ZX400 unit? Both sets of wires appear to go to each side of the sub-woofer cone. At this point, I am not sure if the sub-woofer or the ZX400 unit is at fault. I measured the voltage on each set of wires from the ZX400 with one set reading about 9 volts dc and the other set reading zero volts. The ZX400 seems to be working fine except for the bass at this point. Would like some input before buying a new sub-woofer. Any help would be appreciated.
