Connect Weber "Q" to female quick Connect....

Can't seem to figure out how to connect my Weber "Q" grill to my female quick connect coupling that comes with camper. My grill has 1"-20 fitting on it. It is setup to use small 1lb bottled gas cylinders. I have my grill connected to a 5lb tank now but would like to be able to connect to my camper hose to my grill if i run my 5lb tank empty. Guess I could also by some 1b tanks!!!!LOL

It probably won't work very well. The quick connect on your trailer is a low pressure line (gas went through the pressure regulator on the trailer). The Weber Q is a high pressure appliance (it has a pressure regulator on it) therefore you won't have a sufficient gas flow to the burner. You would need a grill with out a pressure regulator on it, or a low pressure grill.

All you have to do is remove the regulator off of the Q and attach a quick disconnect. Very easy.

That kit will work. Just remove the regulator off of our grill. I have mine setup that way and use it everyday that we are camping.

If your camper came with a cheap grill on the bumper pull the quick connect off of the grill on put it on the Weber where the regulator went.

All portable grills are low pressure once the propane is past the regulator.

There's lots of threads on how to convert if one searches and there's already some conversion links been posted here.

No need for a special low pressure grill.

Coverted ours to use with the onboard propane outlet. Works great!

Go to hardware store and pick up a 1/4 x 1/2 (not sure about size, dry fit to make sure) female pipe nipple. Remove regulator from grill. Attach quick-connect to nipple and nipple where regulator was. Easy-Peasy. You should end up with something like this:

Whats the purpose of removing the regulator on the grill? You would have to reinstall the plumbing on the grill if you wanted to use it with the 1 pound LP bottles on a picnic table or while not camping.

The hose simply attaches to the grill where the 1 pound LP bottle would attach and the other end attached to the quick disconnect at the camper. Easy peasy and you can use the grill while camping and as a portable picnic grill with the 1 pounders.

Sorry, won't work. Regulator on grill combined with regulator on RV propane tanks equals little or no flame on grill!

Yep. Tried ours with the regulator attached. It wouldn't light.

I removed the regulator on my q2000 screwed on the quick connect from another grill and it works great. I kept the regulator in case I want to switch back. Make sure you use yellow 'gas' tephlon tape.

I thought about buying the fittings to put the regulator on the end of the hose so I could use the grill away from my trailer but never did it.

I'm afraid "Kevind02" is wrong. You cannot have 2 regulators in series and get a full flame from your Weber. As mentioned above by many, you can remove the regulator from the grill and run off the camper regulated supply. I set mine up where I can reattach the regulator in less that 5
minuets if I need to use my Weber away from the camper.

After removing my regulator from my Weber Q I installed it inline on a tank hose and then put a low pressure quick connect on it. I can now easily use camper low pressure connector or a propane tank just by plugging it in. Works great !

When you remove the regulator, if the pipe has a tapered end (as mine did) you will need a flared fitting. Larry G.

If the regulator isn't removed from the grill and you connect it to the LP supply from the trailer, the gas will be going through two regulators causing a very weak flow.

Sorry if I misled anyone or posted incorrect info. The original poster ask about the WeberQ and the hose offers a simple solution.

I should have stated it works on my camper with my WeberQ 100 without removing the regulator on the grill. I have no idea how it will work on another camper or another brand grill combo.

Run a high pressure hose directly from the trailer's propane tank valve to the regulator on the grill thus simulating a direct connection to a 1lb. or 5 lb. cylinder. This preserves the correct operating pressure for the grill by using its supplied regulator.
