Considering a Flagstaff MicroLite 25BRDS

We are considering buying a Flagstaff 25BRDS and I'm looking for owners of this or other Flagstaff trailers who can provide feedback on their ownership experience. Did you feel your unit was well built? Have you had a problems with your unit etc.

Thanks very much.

Quite happy with our Coachmen (also an FR brand)

The roof A/C is direct vent rather than ducted, so it is very noisy. Most of the appliances are "Industry Standard" suppliers, so OK but nothing special. So far 8,000 towing miles with no defects. The Freedom Express series is built on one of the newest FR production lines, and the build quality reflects this.

Welcome to the forum from Canada!

The Flagstaff Micro Lite line is a sister line to the Rockwood Mini Lite. Both the Flagstaff and Rockwoods are built in the same factory in Millersburg, IN. There are a lot more Rockwood dealers around than Flagstaff so the Mini Lites are more common, but they are exactly the same unit except for interior fabrics and exterior graphics.

The Flagstaff Micro Lite 25BRDS is the same as a Rockwood Mini Lite 2509S so you can ask for owners of the Rockwood, too. You should be able to find many discussions about the 2509S by using the search feature at the top of the website page.

I’ve never owned a Flagstaff model nor a Rockwood Mini Lite but we just bought our 3rd Rockwood trailer - now a 5th wheel. I’ve been pleased with the quality overall. Flagstaff’s should be equally good.

Do you have any experience with a travel trailer?

Purchased our 2018 25BRDS back in November and have went on three getaways. We have 2 kids and there’s plenty of room for the 4 of us. All In all its a very well made and fit trailer. I’m really sold on the Rockwood/flagstaff brand.

Thanks Itat I'll look at the Rockwood too.

As to experience yes I grew up trailer camping and now that I've got kids of my own I want them to be able to enjoy some of the same experiences.

Its been interesting as I've started looking around at how space inefficient many trailers are with all of the space devoted to fixed beds. Which of course tends to drive the size of trailers up and I prefer to be in the 25' range. Hence our interest in the 25BRDS and 2509S.

The space inefficiencies you mention are not an issue for hybrids liked the Rockwood Roo and Flagstaff Shamrock, but hybrids aren’t for everyone.

As someone else said, make sure to check out the Rockwood subforum ... particularly the 2509S threads ... which is the exact same trailer as you're looking at.

I have the 2504S, which is very similar to the 09S (and 25BRDS). I just have narrower bunks, bigger bathroom with linen closet, pantry in the kitchen, more storage, over-counter storage, different orientation of the TV, but no outdoor kitchen. I think it discontinued the 2504S.

We love our trailer. It worked amazingly well. The only issue we had was some interior trim pieces came undone. I had to staple them back into place.

We own a 23FB Micro Lite that we purchased new in the spring of 2016.
The camper has been perfect for us, no issues other than a rock that put a hole in the front rock guard(made up a small patch and was good to go)
Soon to be starting our fourth season and still very happy with our decision.
We have over 120 nights camped in this trailer, would buy another one without hesitation.

We have the Flagstaff 25BDS and the 2 of us love it. Bought a 2018 without the front window. Murphy bed gives so much extra room. No problems with anything so far. We have 2,500 miles on the trailer since last August. Just returning from MI to SC trip. The outdoor kitchen is a real plus for us. Like that the awning covers the entire activity length including kitchen and outdoor grill. The only big change made was to tires. Put on 4 Goodyear Endurance during the trip due to nail in sidewall of factory set. Endurance have stiffer sidewalls and lesson any sway from passing trucks. We have continued to look at other trailers after our purchass.. we have not found anything that we would like better than our 25BDS.
TV is a 2018 Ford F150 10 speed 2.7 EcoBoost reg cab with 8' bed. The tow mode really helps when going down the 5% grade north of Chattanooga. Only touched brakes once to initiate a downshift.

Thanks very much.
We got our 2019 26fksb after looking for 2.5 years. We looked at a lot of brands and kept coming back to the Flagstaff. Great fit and finish compared to. Other brands. We picked it up from the dealer 6/26/19. We are very satisfied. No problems at all. I did have the adjust screen door latch. No big deal. We ordered our unit because we couldn't find one equipped with some of the options that we wanted. It took about 6 weeks from order date to delivery to the dealer and us. See you down the road.

I bought a 2017 21FBRS and have had no issues other than a leak in the front window which was fixed by the dealer on the first day. I feel it is very well made as far as you can expect from a travel trailer. Of course there are much better made ones out there but you also pay quite a bit more for them. I have not been disappointed yet and have made some upgrades over the last two years.

21FBRS

We have the 21FBRS. Bought new a couple years ago. No issues right out of the box and have not run into any problems with it. Having owned a few, we have been very pleased with the quality.

We have a 2502ks, our 3rd FR unit. We had some initial horrors, but don’t believe this is common. See my past posts. We love our MiniLite. The factory was awesome in helping us. All good now! Happy Camping!!

Our Rockwood MiniLite has been primarily trouble free. We have tugged our 2304KS for 18,000+ miles and have had only 1 issue...one of the outside speaker covers came off, RV Wholesalers sent me the part and I replaced. We have completed some mods and replaced the tires with Carlisle's and have been good to go!

Flagstaff Microlites

Our very first trailer in 2017 was a Microlite 21RBKS. We adored it, but it was really too small for us so within 10 months of purchase we upgraded to another Microlite, this one 25FKS.

We have had no issues, in pouring down rain or sun. We've taken it all over Alabama, through Tennessee, Virginia, to West Virginia and back in it, and next week heading west and back through the lower Midwest for a 7 week round trip.

We have modified a few things but have no problems at all. Opened void space above fridge to install DISH receiver (laid down lots of rigid insulation first since it sits on top of the freezer) and that works great. DH wanted to remove dinette and replace with recliners so I emailed Forest River Sales about weight limitations on the slide, and they were more than helpful. DH is ecstatic about the change out.

The LED on our Furrion power inlet cover went out, and I contacted Furrion who immediately sent me a replacement power inlet under warranty; got it in with no problems.

We don't boondock so can't vouch for FW tank, but WH (we only use electric), both grey tanks, and black tank with flush out system, power, water inlets, shower, toilet, sinks, all great. No issues with 10,000 lb rated hitch (keep ball and sway bars greased), tires (check pressure and stems religiously), axles, LP connections, fridge, furnace, AC, awning, windows, etc.

Our dealer sent us out with an bad original battery that died early, but Interstate Battery replaced it gratis.

All in all, we are FR's biggest cheerleaders for the Microlite brand. Go for it!

We have a 2019 Rockwood 2509S. Same as the Flagstaff you're looking at but different decals. Bad weather forced us to postpone our first trip. We're new to owning one ourselves, but have gone camping with family for years and grew up with pop ups.

We went with the 2509 for a few reasons. We need bunks because we have a 2 year old and 4 year old. I wanted half ton towable, and under 30 feet. Both of which were important because I'll likely be setting up by myself. I don't want my kids anywhere near the camper while I'm backing into a spot. The plan is for my wife to take them and the dog for a walk after being cooped up in the truck.

We narrowed it down to the Grand Design Imagine 2400BH and 2509 because we liked both, and we liked the dealer that carried them. Grand Design makes a nice camper, but having the extra floor space from the murphy bed was a huge plus on a rainy day. Grand design also changed their u-dinette and made it smaller. The Rockwood had more little features like the max fan in the bathroom, and adjustable A/C vents. The Grand Design had a lot more internal storage space as well as a huge passthrough. The floor plan, shorter length, and features that came at a savings of a couple thousand dollars sold us on the Rockwood. Hoping to get out soon!

We have a 2017 Microlite 25brds and are very happy with it. It has been pretty much trouble free. The only thing we were disappointed in is the mattress on the murphy bed. It was no where near as comfortable as the one we had in the Microlite 23lb we traded in. We weren't really looking for an outside kitchen when we got the 25brds but it would be a requirement now if we ever upgraded.
Whether you go with the 25brds or any other model just have fun.

25BDS 2017 Micro Lite

Hi we have a 25BDS micro lite, we downsized from a 33 foot Crossroads that slept 10 so we definitely had to slim down on what we brought. I am very happy with the Micro LIte. The storage is unbelievable for such a small trailer. The Murphy bed allows us to still have a ushaped dinette and a sofa, so my wife and me have separate areas to lounge. We still have almost the same entertaining area as the other trailer when Murphy bed is up with the 4’ bump out. The storage is very deep in the kitchen area and bathroom area. Incredible amounts of storage. As well we have the full size kitchenette outside which holds a lot as well as the extra fridge serves to hold the beverages and coffee station outside for easy access. Just like all trailers we alway unscrew the panels and see What we can caulk to make sure visitors don’t overwinter and it usually works. We have had one season with this trailer and loved it, took it out east and it was such an easy tow compared to the 33 foot. Everything works well. When our son came with us for late fall camping we actually blew up a mattress and put it on the dinette area and he said it was really comfortable compared to just the vinyl cushions. He usually sleeps in a tent otherwise but it was nice we had the option. We also have a full size collie and everyone has lots of room to move around. Ladder on the back is nice for a smaller trailer for accessing the roof area. With the led lighting as well it makes boondocking a lot better as batteries don’t drain quickly. Just like a lot of forest river products we have an issue with keeping the water hose on when at sites, so we fill it and shut it off so tank doesn’t overflow. It needs a new pump, one that came with it is not reliable. Not a deal breaker for us. Some of our friends don’t like Murphy bed but for the 30 sec it takes to bring it down, with pillow, covers and conforter on the bed I love the extra living room it gives us. I agree the mattress that came with it was aweful but we took the Serta from our crossroads and fixed that problem. Attached layout and picture of storage in bathroom above outside kitchen., about 3’deep.
