Cross Country Travel with Micro-Lites

Has anyone in the group traveled coast to coast towing a 18 - 21' Flagstaff MIcro-Lite travel trailer. My wife have traveled all over the country with our motor home but since trading for a Flagstaff 18 FBRS we have not done so. I am just a little apprehensive traveling such long distances. Please give me your thoughts.

What are you apprehensive about? We did a 3000 mile trip last year with our Mini Lite with no issues. It towed and handled great.

Whether its a micro lite or a large coach, if you take care of it, it will take care of you. I can't stress preventative maintenance enough.

From the southern coast of Texas to Goshen and back Day and a half of driving rain, no problems at all. Take care of it and you will be fine.

I work on nuclear powerhouses, oil sites, paper mills, and other industrial construction. Many years ago I had a choice of using hotels or getting a travel trailer to call home when I am working, due to being on a job site for up to 6 months. I replaced my old Sunline 21 with a Micro Lite 21FBRS and love it. I have worked in 15 degree to 100 degree weather with zero problems. I've travel many miles without break downs, no problems. Get on with your fun!

We've been all over the place with our Micro-Lite without problems. It handles really well, is easy to pull into tight spaces (esp. parking lots & short campsites), doesn't slow us down in the mountains, and the accommodations are roughly equal to a motel room with kitchenette. If we liked staying in one place extended periods, a bigger unit would be nice, but for travelling our 21.5 ft. trailer can't be beat.

Lee - what exactly are your concerns?

If the tow vehicle is in good condition and well matched and setup to your trailer there could less to worry about than travelling in a motor home. I have not travelled coast to coast but I travelled Houston to LA and back and had zero issues, in a trailer that is much larger than yours, at elevations as high as 7200' and through all sorts of weather including monsoon-like rain and fairly high cross winds in the mountains in Arizona. Driving cross country would just be longer, that's all.

As you can see in our signature we have a Rockwood Mini Lite 1809S. This summer we spent 11 weeks with over 3,000 miles traveled. Have been to Quartzsite AZ once & have plans to do it again this winter. All with no problems. I always say living in "The Little One" you do have to like each other.
